Sounds like fun. I have been to the Mitty several times and it's always a good way to get up close to alot of interesting cars. A Cobra corral and 'touring' would be fun.

Reply from Chichester
Hey Clyde,
Here is the letter I've been sending out to all interested clubs. Let me know if you want the hotel list. Its really kind of a first come first serve operation. This being the first year there may be a few rough edges.
Car club people get in at $15.00 per person and that covers all three days no pre registration. Back there on the skid pad will be the Mini-Kumho tire test area, but I'm sure there will be room for all, clubs are coming from all over the southeast United States, from muscle cars and street rods to every European club I can think of and the AACA. I have it listed in the events section of online Hemmings and its listed in at this time about 30 club publications.
Paul Chichester
Letter: "Please join us April 30th to May 2nd for the most exciting and largest vintage race on the East Coast; the 27th Annual Walter Mitty Races sponsored this year by Moss Motors. Cars come from all over the United States and Canada to attend these races. Past years have seen as many as 450 different vintage race cars. Cars such as Mclarens, Jaguars, Ferraris, Lolas, Aston Martins, Lotus, MGs, Healeys, Mustangs, Camaros, Cudas, Vetts, Minis, Porsches, Morgans, Formula cars and Winston Cup and Indy cars, etc. Anything that has ever been road raced will be here."

Tent/RV camping is allowed. Maybe TC could get us a big RV and bring it (with or without the "extra" road kill mattress stuck under the front axle from his last trip.

Sounds like a good idea... but we might need the extra mattress !!
More from Paul re parade laps...
Parade laps usually happen around noon but on Sunday morning we have quiet time where open exhausts are not allowed because of the surrounding churches
so we do alot of parade laps then. That time runs from 10:30 to 12:00.

Got he same form response from Chichester. Does not sound very organized. He says just to show up early and stake out a plac for your group. I have sent a copy of his email to Grassroots Motorsports Mag. to see if this is REALLY how the Car Club areas will be handled.
The $15 for the weekend is a GREAT prce: Usually $20/a day, $30 for the weekend as I recall. How do we get this specia rate of $15?
Grassroots Motorsports Mag subscribers get free autocross laps in the Minis' on the skidpad.
Will report ck anythin else Ilearn. cb

SVO Bud: What are the Nashville/Mustang dates? Will it be at the nashville Super Speedway? Great place: went up there last year for the SAAC meet. Are other cars invited? Will there be lapping? Can you give me a website? Enquiring minds want to know.

Nashville
is April 15-18. There will be loads of cars. I know of some good hotels in Hendersonville that aren't that far out of the way of the Speedway. For you drag racing folks, the Gas Rhonda Cobra Jet will be there along with possibly a Don Nicholson Cobra Jet. I'm thinking of checking it out.

Mitty event is car lover's heaven. All kinds of race cars - Bug Eye Sprites, '90s vintage Formula 1 cars and everything in between.
Car corral is good idea. I also think it is key to park as near to the pits as possible. You know how we like to get up close and personal with the "mochinery". Turns 5 and 7 are great but parking not paved ( important for those who love the smell of burning rubber) and it is a hike or a potentially dusty/ muddy ride to the pits.
I bought some sort of ticket (Sat am at the track) that allowed me to do the touring laps Saturday and Sunday. I parked in a large paved area directly across the track from the pits (along the front straightaway) which was also where the touring lap groups formed up.
In summary I would recommed we gather/park in this paved area that has pit access (a foot bridge over the track). Folks that want to see other parts of the track will have that option.
Just my two cents worth. Looking forward to meeting other posters. Working weekends now but this will change in a few weeks.

George, that area is called the "Pro Pits", and this year the NASCAR group will be in that area. A few cars could probably park there, but bring earplugs.

GRM editor has been in touchwith me: having a meeting soo to nail down pre register car clb corrals rather than the show-and-take-your-chances approach. Will report updates.
