Nice day ...

Ahhh .. checked the weather forcast - low 60s, no rain. Figured, "what the hay .. lets fire up the Cobra today".

Moved some cars around .. took the car cover off. Pulled out into the driveway - set the parking brake so I could let the motor warm up a bit more. Clicked the garage door opener - put on my leather gloves - blipped the throttle .. and we're off.

Went for my bi-weekly haircut. All the old guys came out to see what was shaking the glass as I parked right up front. Heard a couple of the stories "I remember when those things first came out" or the "I knew someone who had one once .. but it was a REAL one."

Now my ears are getting cold. "Hey, there's a Hooters .. I'm hungry." Ate some hotwings ... which warmed my ears back up. Mumbled under my breath "&%#$" as I went to leave because I didn't have a camera with me .. and it was such a missed opportunity because all the girls came out to giggle and compliment the Cobra ... and apparently if you're only wearing short-shorts and a thin tight T-shirt, then it was still kinda chilly *insert headlights on bright icon here*.

Went to the bank .. not the close one, and took the long way there. On the way .. gave a C5 Corvette owner a lesson in respect.

Returned home - swept out the garage, back her in ... covered her back up .. and waiting for the next halfway warm-sunny day that I have off from work to come around. :)

Yes, ... it was a nice day.

Hey Bud, I hear ya! I drove mine all the way from Dacula to Norcross both yesterday and today. Yesterday was stinging cold at 7:30AM, but I had to do a "fit check" on the new trailer project. Today was much better. I took off early and drove down to McDonough to see my Southern Automotive buddies. I really like the trip home through Conyers and Snellville backroads. Lewis and Jeremy were standing out behind the shop when I left, so I had to put my foot through the floorboard leaving. I know I hit 6,500 RPMs, smoked first and second and fishtailed going into third. You're right, "what a day"!

Sounds awsome guys! I just sit in mine at this point & pretend:D

Hey Bud,
That sounds like fun. Alot of fun. I don't know if you remember meeting me at the Canton car show. I was ordering my FFR that same week. I also met Tony at the church car show over near Cumming along with Chill. Anyway it won't be long now. I actually fired my car up for the first time today. Sounds load without sidepipes, but oh how sweet.

I'm building the MK II with IRS, 351W and a few other goodies. Car was delivered on September 24th and I'm making pretty good progress, so far not too many gotchas.

I'm gonna call Jodeco Paint tomorrow and take a ride down to see about getting her painted. Maybe they will give me a winter special.

I have a couple more mods to do, adding a second roll bar and putting in a brace in the trans tunnel to accomodate for the mid shift on the tremmec 3550. After that the body goes on to fit the rest of the pieces and then off to paint.

Hope to see you guys this spring at a few shows, I keep browsing and see you guys going to meets and other events and it just drives me nuts not being able to get in the mix.

Enjoy the weather

Hey Bud,
Sounds like a pretty good day. All except the part about not having a camera. Some day we need to cruise up to Emerson, just across the Bartow line. There is a little joint up there called Dougs Place. Sort of a poor mans hooters from what I've heard. Ever hear of it?

I love this hobby. :3DSMILE:

DavidH - I have a faint memory of meeting you. Sorry, it was a busy-hectic year. Congrats on your build!! Some tips after owning a FFR that someone else built .. if you don't already have these .. ya might consider them.

Passenger side drop foot box. Anyone over 5'6" will be cramped if you don't.
BRAKES! The disc front with drum rears manual set up suxass.. and will be my first upgrade to mine (after I finish playing with the SVO). If you can, think about modifying the frame and installing a booster. I wish it was an option without removing the body. :(
Passenger side roll bar ... I'm not a fan of them, but everyone who rides with me comments about not having one on their side :).
Hood hinges .. lift off hoods are for the birds
Prop rod for the trunk ... something better than using your head while you're putting or getting something out of the trunk would be nice.

Good luck!

Dave Crace - I've heard of Dougs .. never been. Definitely need to get the cars together and stir things up on this side of Atl. ;)

I'm also not ever going to leave the house again with the Cobra unless I take the camera. Headlights = good.

Svobud,

A little known fact: Although Hooter's chicken wings will warm your ears on a cool Georgia cruise, it has been proven that the actual hooters will do a much better job.:p :p

DavidH 01-14-2004 03:51 PM

Bud,
Thanks for the tips. I actually am doing all of them, although I have not got the rod for the trunk yet. I dropped the footbox, I have discs all around (no booster - required frame mods), New designed hood hinge from factory. You'll have to come check it out some time. I went down to Jodeco paint today and spoke with Bruce, with good luck he will be painting it in February.
Enjoy the nice weather rides...

That's true .. and besides that, they make me studder with audible fits simular of Terrets Syndrome ..... "B-B-B-B-Bo-Bo-Bo-BOOBS!"

Bud, next time you find youself and your Cobra at Hooters sans camera, find the manager. They usually have a camera so that they can put cool pictures of cool cars on the wall.... made especially cool by the 'accessories' they will provide to enhance the picture.....

p.s. DavidH, glad to hear about the progress. Look forward to adding you to our growing ACC group this spring.
