Default Atlanta Dragway Schedule

Ron has posted the 2004 schedule for Atlanta Dragway in Commerce. He suggested we review it and declare one of the Fast Friday events to be a repeat of Cobra Night. The track can be rented for $1,000 for four hours. That would probably be a Thursday night or Sunday. You can review the schedule at atlantadragway.com.

So, if we use one of the Fast Friday dates, we don't pay the $1000.... and we do what we did last time...

...OR we can pitch in $1000, rent the track (that's 20 cars at $50 each) for a ClubCobra only night on a selected Thursday or Sunday? I can picture a mid-summer Sunday night and our own track..... hmmmm

Even 10 cars at $100 each might be worth it (assuming you don't end up spending a lot of time tinkering with the car in the pits). Real question is who guards the rule book on Sundays? Maybe the outfit that sells passenger dummies so you can cheat in the HOV lane also sells styrofoam roll cages for occasional track events. I've got a SpiderMan costume at home that looks a lot like a fire suit.

My vote would be to do as we did last time. I enjoyed watching the others run, and since we got to go to the front of the line when we wanted to run, I believe most got to sling it down the track as many times as desired. Of course, Cracker may want to push his nightly number of runs into the triple digits, but most of us were satifsied.

Also, it seems you could get around the low e.t. rule by easing over the start line to start the clock, wait a second or two, and then do a normal run. After that you could combine the second half of that run with the first half of one where you lauched as normal and eased off half way down the track. It's not ideal, but it's better than having a one sub 12 sec run for the night.

Just my thoughts.
