Well, Bud, we tried. Did out good deed of trying to get Matt's car running.
Hope you had a ggod ride the rest of the day. I took the "long way home" through a lot of back roads.
These cars are for drivin' when they run!

topless .. http://www.tristatemotorsports.com/ - look under accessories/parts.
I woke up this afternoon .. knowing it was going to be another banner day for a ride. I jumped in some clothes and took off. Nice ride too. Great weather! Saw more motorcycles than anything - but I did see a few rods out and about. Witnesses a traffic accident. Hearing 'screeeeccchh .. BOOM!" from inside your car will make your skin crawl. Had two good looking early 40s women in a mafia-looking Mercedes drag race me .. not once, but 3 times (kept getting caught at red lights). Each time they would pull up next to me with BIG GRINS giving the thumbs up .. and then start revving the motor. The first time they did it I almost choked on the cola I drinking. Hehehe .. my kind of women... wild and weathly.

Well let me tell you all how a $30 part can ruin a ride. The short version is that T bone stopped by on his way home and diagnosed the problem. Seems the oil pump $hit the bed and let a fleck of the impeller loose which jambed. This caused the pin on the distributrer gear to snap, thus the spinning motor with no spinning button! I wish I had your number Bud, I was back on the road loosin Radial TA's by 1PM this afternoon. Had to replace the high vol. pump and drive a new retaining pin into the dist. gear, but other than that, not too bad. Oh yea, the jack a$$ that built this Windsor didn't put a timing marker on so I had to guess at the timing and just put it back in at the same idle as before...runs great, but I am going to run it by T bones soon to dial it in with the proper light. The good news is that it isn't spitting out the radiator hose anymore either! Look forard to trying this again soon.

Matt, I was thinking about calling you, but figured you were going to spend the day pulling that thing apart. Glad to hear it wasn't too much of a mess. Good thing T-bone happened by our lunch meeting, huh? Just wait till you see his ERA! I suggest taking a bib .. to catch the drool. Definitely a work of art.
I'll PM you my cell number.

A good day and, even though we didn't all get together in one place, there were a few gatherings going on at the same time.
Mike, Tony, and Hector came by to check out my progress and I showed them my backyard project. Since I needed to get out for a little ride, I rode with Tony and we went over to Keith's to see how his Unique 427 was coming along.
After riding around in Tony's car, I went home motivated and got my differential and rear suspension re-assembled. Sunday I was able to lift it into place with the help of my son John and its now bolted in place. Soon as the springs and track bars arrive, it should be a short project to finish.

Clyde, I made major progress as well. Finished up all the welding for the exhaust, did final trim out of left side exhuast hole, took header tubes off and painted. Installed E-brake, batteries, and right seat. Fixed fuel leak at my fuel pressure isolator (it helps when someone clues you in that it is not just an AN to AN fitting, but calls for an item known as an O-ring boss--thank's to Pat Buckley and Tom Kirkham).
Then Randy came by yesterday and we filled up the fluid reservoirs and bled brakes and clutch. Then in the PM I started sanding & painting the header pipes. I need to repaint my sidepipes, I am not happy with the stuff I used (Plasti-Kote Hi-temp crap). Then I have some minor punch list items to do as well as reinstall hood and I should be good to go. I will be spending the week to figure out ways to drag it out further however . The car needs some serious scotchbrite action before it will be seen in public. Got the nose pretty well done, but I need to rinse it and use running water, so I need to wait for self propulsion to do that.
Glad everyone had fun--except for Matt--sorry to hear about that. It is amazing how a $3 or $30 part can cause a whole lot of chaos.

TC give me a call if you need a hand with the hood. I can help any night or early Sat or Sun, it's more baseball this weekend.
Randy
We can all meet at your place with scotch pads in hand and do that puppy in about 30 minutes, no more lame excuses

Sounds like everyone had a good weekend - even TC made real progress. I had expected to join you, everything was back together Sat AM, was ready to add coolant, drop it off the stands, and fire it up. Took more coolant than usual, checked dipstick, 10 qts of oil and several gallons of coolant in the pan. After two days of checking and calls to Kaase, RDI, and Engine Systems, the problem was identified. The aluminum block has two sets of oil return passages from the rockers - one for regular heads and one for Ford hemi heads. Seems no one had used the SCJ heads on the block yet - and the hemi oil return runs straight into a water passage on the SCJ heads - free flow of water into the pan. Now I have to pull and tear down the motor, drill, tap and plug the 4 hemi oil returns, then put it all back together.
So it goes - being first to do something is an adventure.

John,
Ouch! I feel for you, makes a couple tranny swaps look painless compared to what you are going to undo and redo. Hollar if you need help.
P.S. You could always fix it by throwing some hemi heads on .

John O ... ouch... Just focus on the end result of 1000HP!...
TC:
I used some high temp ceramic paint on the coolant pipes and they came out a real nice semi-gloss finish. Easy to use and relatively inexpensive... I will track down the name if you want to try that on your pipes for a second coat. I am around all week and if you need me to watch you and Randy dent the hood. Rubbing the car down with a Scotchbrite pad just seems wrong somehow, but I'm game...

Thanks Randy
I put 4 stators in my motor, BBs require 4 in the block, and now it runs without water and oil fornicating in the pan.
They are the blue thingees

Hey TC,
I found the stuff I used, its Duplicolor High Heat Ceramic 1200 degree paint. I am not sure how it holds up to brake fluid, but put some on an I will come over and we can see
