Default KMP249 terrorizes the 'hood

Finished most of the work on KMP249 and took her for a few quick shakedown runs today. Woooodoggies. Got some real dirty looks from two ladies walking their dogs. They ain't seen nothing yet!

Needs some minor sorting--the throttle linkage is causing me the most grief--seems real stiff. And I think the clutch slave needs to be downsized per a situation that is identical to another KMP owner who is local--.700 Wilwood master trying to drive a 1 inch slave--not a good combo. I want to thank GeorgiaSnake for an occasional well needed hand and kicks in my rear end. Also, the other gentlman in the pic is Ron Jones, Mustang restorer extraordinaire (both are pictured, Ron is the better looking of the two ). I also want to thank some others such as Cracker for hounding me, and the Kirkhams for the phone support early in the build. Thanks guys!

I did a little scotchbrite action with running water after this photo, and have some minor punch list items to do. I also will do an oil change very early as I undid and reconnected some oil line stuff which ideally needs to be done empty.

TC

The Car looks Outstanding..... you gotta have a great smile.....

I'm just glad for you to see this day..... I'm also excited to see it hit the streets.... knowing Atlanta is going to know your roaming the streets.....

Is there anything you would change about the build process and are there any idea's that can be improved on....

I'm probably not going to see mine until the end of May..... gotta spend a month in Gernany doing a Show.....ugh....

I can't wait to start the process.... so I can catch up with you guy's.....

and the car looks outstanding.... did I say that all ready....

Enjoy and let me know if I can help in any sorting out issues....

And keep that smile when you pass those ladies again.... maybe a little pop of the throttle..... might blow up their skirt.....

Car looks great, but when you said you'd have it ready for the Fling, I thought you meant III, not IV.

Mike, Morris, Budman, SFCJ, ST,

Thanks. It feels so good to be rumbling around again. Next week will be exactly one year I was without a self propelled Cobra (I did have a deadline after all ). Morris, I will play with the linkage, I lubed the "heim joint" fittings tonight that it uses, but I think I also need to fine tune the adjustments of the rods. Something just isn't right. I also need to tweak the tab that my double throttle return spring is going to.

Morris, I guess with this clutch thing, definitely either use a smaller slave (I KNEW this was going to be an issue after another KMP builder had this issue weeks ago), or I'd go hydraulic throwout bearing. The other thing I did for the sake of purity was the Smith's guages. Wouldn't change that, but there is a lot that needs to be done to make the plumbing go from AN or pipe to British Pipe thread. I still need to get the line from the isolator to my fuel pressure guage to not leak.

P.S. That's masking tape on the nose from re-polishing the stripes that I never took off.

TC,
Beautifull to say the least. Hope you find the time and the means to bring it to DVSF IV. The KMP's were the hit of the show last year. Yours is definately a home run!

Mike, are those numbers in your sidebar correct? 499 seems low on the horse power and 1029'lbs seems high on the torque. Or am I missing something?

Rumble! Rumble! Rumble! Today was a great day. It sounded like an "arc light" in the distance. I'll explain it later you are too young to know.

I had coal black hair when TC started this build and had just gotten my learners permit. Ron was chasing butterflys through the neighbor hood.

TC now about that blue thingie under the cover - over in the corner - hmmm silence has a price

Where is the fluid - photo shop I suppose.

TC

Check out www.pegasusautoracing.com

They have all of the British threads to AN fittings so you can adapt the Smith gauges to Aeroquip fittings....

I'd try the smaller slave cylinder and then consider a stop for the pedal....I think Tom K. was saying to do something to the master cyl shaft to restrict the movement for the slave cylinder.....

It's fun when you start this kind of sorting out and balance of the car....

BTW did you check the bump steer??? don't know how the Kirkhams do it or if they pay much attention to that kind of detail.

Enjoy

What TC failed to mention - He lives on a street that has flashing yellow lights and 35 MPH signs every 15 feet, motorcycle cops with radar behind every bush and all sorts of non-gearhead neighbors. So he goes up and down the street 8 or 10 times making noises like a prostocker then pulls in the garage grinning. Now that he has pissed off ALL of the do-gooders and alerted every cop in the county it is time for me to hit the road in my SILVER Cobra. I considered pushing it home to avoid the wrath of all.

Who me? You sure, based on that LONG screach I heard upon your exit, that you don't have a big block in there? Or was it a loose fan belt? We have way too much fun...just as it should be!

Morris,

I have bought from them in the past and you are correct, they have a good 4 pages or so of adaptors for just such a thing. Great business and great people.
