Balanced Performance Motorsports
I called BPM this morning and asked about putting a "super tune" on a BG Demon set up. The guy told me they had a fellow there who was particularly knowledgable about BGs. They keep jets in stock and charge $150/hour to do the work on the Dyno. The time charged doesn't begin until after the car has been set up on the machine. I guess one should assume a $300-400 tab if things go well, eh? Ouch! That's a whole day at SA. But I guess it takes the Dyno to do it right.

I am headed back Wed. at 10 to see if I have made any progress with my problems. You may want to meet me there, sniff around, ask questions, and see how the place feels. They can do an excellent job on WOT, but the intermediate can be difficult on an inertia dyno. Talk to Dave Crace, they were unable to get his motor right in mid-range with fuel injection. Depends on what you need - let me know if you plan to be there.

John, are you saying you and Dave went to this same place in Sugar Hill? I could see how setting up fuel injection would be more time consuming than setting up a carb.

Tony - the same person, but I don't know where Dave went. At one time Ed did the dyno work for several shops, now he stays at Balanced Performance. As to the difficulty of carb vs FI, it's hard to say. FI has a larger and more precise array of controls, but changing a few keyboard entries has to be faster than changing jets.

I may need to schedule a day. I have finally fixed the clutch (ground off about 1/2" of the pushrod) and done much work on the Holley. I have converted my Holley to an instant on - off switch. Tire smoke or idle - my choice.

Dave I think you have the same problem I had. We can fix it in about 30 minutes. I'll be glad to do it if you want to swing by the house this weekend. My clutch bites and hangs on like a pit bull now.

Tony,
Ed is the guy who tuned my car with the holley fuel injection. He took it from running pig rich to pretty good on the street. Probably did as much as could be done with the mild cam I had.
I would be interested in getting my Barry Grant dialed in once I get the clutch to stop slipping... Maybe he will do a group deal.
Randy,
Definitely interested, but can't do this weekend. I will either be racin or going to a baseball tournament. Maybe next week?

I would be up for dialing in my BG and timing too, and think a group rate is in order!

Dave, I called BG about the jet sizes in our carbs. I'm told we're running 75s on the primaries and 83s on the secondaries. I also spoke to Bill (Parham) on another subject and he suggested simply dropping a couple of sizes and save the hundreds of dollars. I think I'm going to purchase the jets anyway. Looks like Barnett Performance might be the local ticket.

Randy, I was hoping you were going. Do you think two sizes is enought? The guy at BG asked me if my car would idle. When I said it idled great, he said "two sizes down". With all the junk Holleys in everyone's garages, I figure someone has some extra jets.

Tony I haven't changed yet but I'm sure they are 72's. I will try 68's and or 70's. You are welcome to whatever I don't use. I only have primary jets and a metering plate for the secondaries.
