Default Mitty Report

It was a bit wet at the Mitty...but still over 300 cars racing and about as many beer parties going on at anygiven time. The supermodels were there too. Lots of crashed cars .
Still, DC, TC, CB, TT, SM, JW, and many others had a great time ! We had fun at the Superformance tent(thanks to Rob Ginn), and George Stauffer really liked the coupe (he used to have one , but sold it to Rob Walton). I had the pleasure of running in the rain on slicks, but did manage to get in a good run on dry pavement on Sunday. DC had a pretty spectacular spin at turn 1.TC got in a few laps without incident. Spydee had a good spinout in turn 10. All in all it was a great time and if you did not make it, well, what can I say. Frank G. was there and had some slight misfortune , but things seemed to work out for him. They used the GT40 for a commercial thursday morning going around the track in the dark with the lights on(6:00am). That was really cool. Anybody have any pictures ? Looking forward to next year.

Johan,

I was holding out to post a "trip report" and waiting for you. I do have pictures, hundreds actually. Have maybe 5 or so I can post. Still clearing them with moderators . Bad thing about the rain was the women were cloaked in clothing. Good thing is the clothing was WET. Many of those pics were taken one handed and are a bit "fuzzy".

I want to commend Johan for his graciousness x 2. He had custody of (or knowing him was given the tik as a thanks for loaning out his GT for the commercial) a ticket to do a "touring lap" . He FORCES me, to drive his GT-40 with slicks in the rain to give someone else a ride, who was jumping out of his skin while we went BTW. For those of you yawning, a GT-40 with slicks in the rain, even on a touring lap, deserved respect and tried biting once. Thank you John for the trust, and putting smiles on 2 faces with one "stone"!

Johan
Sorry I could not make it but I guess moving my sone home from Free Shoes U for the summer is more important than seeing old wet race cars and young wet women(someone tell me that my wife is right?)

I just hope we have clear weather at the Willis for Johan's Birthday. Any chance we will have some young women to...uh....well never mind. _

See the happy Johan!

I'm glad to hear that fun was had by all (at least all who went). I kept thinking I should go, then thought about the sprained ankle and all the walking and thought better. I think the rain gods were telling me to stay home for my own good.... because everytime I though, 'well I'll just go for a few hours' .. it rained....

TC... PICTURES!!!!!

Johan, when will the commercial air? Did you get a tape of it?

I was up there Sunday afternoon. Looked all around but saw no familliar faces. One couple in a white cobra by the SPF tent were getting ready to head back to S Carolina whith no top. Yes it was drizzeling.
Any comments on the coupe?? Looked good to me except the doors didn't seem to fit perfectly.

I was there Sun afternoon. I really admire the S. Carolina couple. The woman deserves 'most tolerant wife' award, she had a cheerful additude about the ride back ;-)
I was impressed with the design of the coupe, it had some beautiful suspension design as well as other underhood mechanical details. I expected it to be a Cobra with a full body but it doesn't have anything in common. The wheels had a very postive backspacing to allow for suspension arms to be longer, the coilovers were mounted at an angle. Sitting inside was unlike what I had expected. The seat was actually too far back for me. There is a comfortable amount of room and the overall feel of a well built serious car. The door mechanism is interesting, to get out you have to push a button on the dash, no handle (?).
Johan, what car were you driving?

I was driving a Lola t332 , the SONY coupe (red #16). I had a blast and wish you would have stopped by to say hello.

we had a great time too! All are welcome at anytime! I've got a few pictures but some friends have a web site with a lot of rain (and Non-rain) pictures. The web site is www.lightspeedphoto.net Johan, they were at the beer party too! but I might have missed the introductions...I may have missed a number of things. Anyway a fun time was had by all. Even Frank!

The only place I didn't get into was the area down behind the admin building. It looked like you needed a special ticket to get in there

Chill, the commercial was on FOX.
Where the hell is Frank ? Anybody heard from him ? Hope his fingers, fenders, etc. are all O.K.

Alex, the pits are full of typical racers like those shown here, hence the extra security.
