Default Caravan to Gadsden

So what's the deal? Assuming it isn't raining, when is everyone planning to embark? How many are planning to pilot their roadsters? I'll be detailing for the next couple of days so it will definitely rain.

Tony,

I don't have a Unique Cobra yet. However, I am bringing the approval committee(wife) over to the open house on Friday to look around for the day. I have several questions I want to get answered for my self regarding engine/tranny combinations, wheels, and of course colors. I also would like to get an up close look at your Serpent Express trailers. Are you still planning on bringing one to homecoming? I will also be looking for any one willing to give rides.

We are planning on leaving Marietta around 7:15 am. Right after we get the kids off to school. I typically go to Gadsden on Hwy 278. It is a more scenic route than I-20. However, I would not mind meeting up with anyone that is going over early on Friday morning.

Randy

Randy, as much as I wanted to, I won't have a complete Serpent Express available to bring by the end of the week. I went through a design change and just recently received my new trailer. I still have to get the new canopy fabricated which will take a couple of weeks. I'm also in the process of filling an order for a Cobra guy in Ohio who wants one in time for Spring Fling. The new product is awesome. Much slicker.

Tony,

That is okay. I am not in a big hurry. I am hoping to do something late this fall at the earliest. Hopefully, I can run into you at some local Atlanta event this year when you have a trailer available or I can always ride over to your side of town at some point. I will talk with you at the open house on Friday.

Are you going over Thursday night or Friday morning to Gadsden?

Randy,

I'm still a bit nervous of the rain probability (after all I am a waxer), but the current plan is to drive over on Friday morning. With or without the Cobra is yet to be determined.

Tony,

What time are you planning to head out on Friday? Is any one else heading out Friday morning?

I could meet up with you some where on I-20 west of town around 7:30 or 7:45 if you are going through around that time. Traffic may be an issue for you coming from Gwinnett county at that time of morning.

I think the rain is probably going to be the standard afternoon scattered thuderstorm variety. It will definetly rain if you bring your Cobra. It will definetly not rain if you don't bring it.

Randy

Randy, I'm talking with some other local guys about taking a route through the back country as opposed to Interstate. I'm not sure about a departure time. I'm really not sure about anything. Call me "clueless".

Tony,

When you guys figure out what your plans are let me know. I will see if I can meet up with the group. If not, I will see you in Gadsden.

I prefer going over to Gadsden on Hwy 278. It is a lot more scenic and the traffic is a lot lighter than on I-20. From Marietta it is the same amount of time to Gadsden going on 278 or on I-20. Both routes are 2 hours. Mileage wise 278 is about 20 miles shorter.

Mzhun,

It's the Unique Motorcars Homecoming at their factory in Gadsden, AL. They're expecting 60+ cars, but that might shrink considerably if the weather's not looking good for Fri-Sat. Some of us are coming anyway with enclosed trailers, so there will be quite a few cars there.

Tony (et al):
I am planning to drive over Friday morning. We should try to head out early. I have taken the 'northern route' across 411 a few times and that has some good roads and (almost) no interstate.

I think we can expect at least a passing shower during the trip, but it doesn't look like any major weather. I plan to drive the Cobra....and as long as you keep moving you don't get wet!!!

(and Tony, it will give you something to do when you get home....more cleaning and waxing!)

Randy??

Jason??

My preference would be to meet in Cumming (usual place) towards the end of rush hour(s). We have the Central time zome hour advanage.

My wife has a work meeting at 8am that I'm planning to leave right after. I might be able to hook up with guys, depending on when she can wrap up - maybe a couple minutes late. To confirm, meet place is Starbucks at the intersection of 400 and 20? Her office is right off Northpoint Parkway, so we could shoot up 400 pretty quickly.

PS - Got a possible little clutch problem (came home to find all the fluid on the floor) - going to investigate that tomorrow. I reserved a uHaul trailer to be safe.

Thumbs up

Glad you can make it!
I will PM you my cell number and if you think you will be able to get there Friday AM we will wait for you. The Starbucks is east of 400 at exit 14, (GA 20). It's on the left side of the road next to Atlanta Bread Company and near Home Depot.

If you want to run by, we can check the clutch lines and pour in some new fluid Thursday evening.

Chill,

I appreciate the invite. I don't think I can meet up with you guys at 9:00 or 9:30 am in Cumming. I am planning on leaving Marietta at 7:15 am after the kids are off to school. I also have to make a side trip up to Boaz, Alabama at some point during the day. Hubbard's Greenhouse sales annual flowers for $5.00 a flat. My Wife wants about 15 flats. I am hoping to get that trip knocked out early and be at homecoming by 9:00 am Central time. I do intend to spend the better part of the day admiring cars and asking lots of questions. I have to be back for football practice by 6:30 Friday night.

Anyone else planning on leaving early?

Randy
