New toy ... coming soon to a garage near me!
So, I've finally scratched the Harley itch and bought a '04 Heritage Softail Classic (FLSTCI). Color is "laval red sunglo", chromed out front end and controls, and whitewalls! Delivery should be ready from Stone Mountain HD middle of next week ... I can't wait!
The best part is that Wendy will be "training" on our Honda Shadow Spirit for the next year and has her mind set on an '05 Sportster 1200 Custom. Should be a fun year!
PS - Roundabout thanks to the Parhams. The new SuperFE stroker is taking a bit longer than "expected" which freed up some liquid cash for the new toy

Cool! I'd love to scratch that same itch but have you ever seen a grasshopper riding a motorcicle? When 6'5' things just don't look or feel the same - at least it would sound the same!

Pat, Congratulations! I've got three in my garage. I don't know which is more fun, Harley's or Cobra's. I have a 95th anniversary Road King and a 95 Springer soft tail. My wife has a 98 Lowrider that she has decided she would like to sell. She too, learned how to ride on a light weight Honda. Very wise move. Let me know if you'd be interested in her bike. It is dark blue and completely stock, less than 3K miles. Haven't thought about what it is worth but it will be reasonable and less than a new sportster.

Thanks. I suspect she'll want to practice on the Honda before plunking down cash for a Harley. Did your wife find the Lowrider to be too heavy? Wendy looked at a lowrider but worried about the weight difference between it and a Sporster 1200C. I suspect you could get more than a price of a new 1200C - about $10k stock. Curious, in '98 was the engine rubber mounted on the Lowrider?

Yes the 98 lowrider is rubber mounted and although I don't know what the weight difference is, I doubt you could notice it. With motorcycles as long as you stay balanced, you never detect weight. The lowrider is a bike you can comfortably ride several hundred miles. The Sportster isn't something you can ride more than 40-50 miles without suffering the consequences. It will wear you out.

Yeah, the "old" Sportsters were definitely rough to ride. The '04 models are MUCH improved, including rubber mount of the engine and new cylinders. I'll ask if she might be interested. If you have some pictures and $ you are thinking of, PM me. Thanks!

Cool new toy Jason,
I had a 1200 Sportster Sport and moved up to the FatBoy... way more comfortable. Congrats.
