Tony it sounds like air - when it gets hot it stops working. Can you make it to my house without problems?

I have a funeral to attend this afternoon but we can try bleeding and adjusting this morning if you want.

Randy

Randy, when does the window of opportunity close? I've got a couple of things to do here and I think you're probably 45 minutes to an hour away.

Tony, I could come over and help with your clutch if you're worried about making it to Randy's. I just can't go on an all day cruise this weekend I have to stay around the Dacula-Lawrenceville twin cities metro area. Here are some things I'd look at to hopefully avoid it being the master cylinder:
Pedal return, does the master cylinder piston come all the way back?
Heat near lines. If the line runs near the header and has once boiled, the fluid would be even worse the next time. You may have already bled it enough to flush the system though.
Do you know what kind of master cyl. the Unique uses?

Mike, the pedal pressure seems to be fine and yes, it does return all the way. It never gets mushy. I never had fluid heating problems before the clutch replacement and I also rerouted the hydraulic line over the foot box and completely out of the way of the exhaust system. I pulled the boot off of the master cylinder pedal rod and there was no fluid present. I did destroy the o-ring in the slave cylinder when I filled the system with DOT 5 fluid (there was lots of brake fluid present behind the boot on the slave) so I replaced it with a new one. I checked it last night and there is no fluid at the slave. There is no fluid leaking from the system as the level has not dropped for months. I wish it was something as simple as replacing a part, I just can't find anything to replace.

Sounds like air in the line to me. I have lived this one first hand.

Mike, since you used the past tense, I gather you found a solution. If so, do you attribute your success solely to focus and determination? I'm running a might short on both. I need access to the force. Where's a Jedi when you need one?

Perfect weekend for a drive...
...unfortunately I will be using up my weekend flying out west... that, and the fact that I have no car...

Tony, sounds like you clutch problem is a combination of heat and air.... have you checked for hot air in the lines?

Screw it! I pulled the master and it looks a bit questionable (besides, it's the only part I haven't replaced). John's waiting on me down in McDonough, so I'm heading south. Mike, If you've got time to help me bleed it later, that would be good. My cell is 770 329-7122.

Hey Mike, thanks for the hand! Looks like that was it. I'm going to make a couple of adjustments, but the bleeding down problem appears to have been resolved. Happy day!

Great news Tony - I thought it was air.

Now what about a group ride tomorrow?

The Explorer competition got pushed into tomorrow (Sunday) morning because of the huge turnout (close to 200 Police Explorers). Our team (we only entered 1 two man) looks like they might be in the running for some trophies. Awards are suppose to be at 12noon. So - puts me up for a ride AFTER Noon ...

If you guys give a general area/etc ... then I'll see about meeting up later the day.

I am naturally interested in further road-testing my clutch system. Since I spent most of yesterday screwing with the little red car, I must be careful as to how I position my self for another "hell with the yard work" beautiful Spring day. I may be up for something later in the day (around 3:00 or so) so I can at least appear to have done some chores.

I cannot do this afternoon with the family arriving back at 3 or so. Plus, I want to do a total oil drain on the KMP to do the oil sending line properly. I'll be ready April 17th....

2006.

I may go for a ride on the Cushman this morning.

This isn't working out very well so - Road Atlant has two events scheduled - ALMS on the 15th - 17 and the Mitty 29th - 1st.

Should I try starting a thread on the Pinto forum - they may be more flexible

If you need a place to go, I'll be at the shop putting the fuel cell in the spec car. Too nice a day to sit around at home.

We'll be there on Sunday. Our usual spot is the grandstand area facing turns 10a and 10b. Stop by for a beer and a brat.

Enjoyed a nice ride - 3.5hrs worth. Stayed on the west side I-75 up towards Calhoun. Stopped in and did some shopping at an Outlets Mall there. Very nice weather. Came back to find that all the neighbors stayed home and did yard work. Guess I know what I'm doing tomorrow morning.

What's up with the cocky-azz Harley riders now-a-days? Freaking wannabees!! Had more than a couple trying to race - if you want to call it that. One gear wound out and they were a speck in the mirror. Then they would come roaring up like the race was still on and I'm slowing down. I had one pass me IN MY LANE. Nut. Twist of the wrist and he would have been dodgin squirrels.
