Cobra Sighting
Saturday afternoon, 4/21, a good looking silver or aluminum Cobra on Paces Ferry Road in Vinings, sounded like it may have been an automatic.

Didn't know your POS was down and not running ... and if it makes you feel any better, I'm sure whatever was wrong with mine last summer will show it's ugly head again this year when it gets really warm out.

No big deal, I just beat the main bearings out of her. The motor parts are scattered around the shop. I'm thinking of just getting a bicycle, some spand-X and a case of Gatoraid. It's got to be cheaper.

TR - just curious, did you ever tighten your alternator (belt) up Bill re-built your motor?

Tony, I purchased a billet set up from March shortly after I received the new motor. No issues with belts.

Without going into detail - which of the main bearings were failing? The reason I ask both of the questions is windsor motors are prone to failing the first main bearing (by balancer) if you over-tighten the alternator. I had it happen to my windsor and it was diagnosed remotely by Eric and Peformance Engineering in OH.
If you over-tightened your belts after that March pulley set it might be related - unlikely but possible. Just food for though for the future. Best wishes.

pmfranke - First of all, I don't necessarily know of a way to communicate how tight is too tight or not (easy boys). I do know I was trying to eliminate the squealing as well which resulted in the over tightening of the alternator belt. Common sense usually comes into play on these things and recognizing the you can actually apply excessive pressure on the front main bearing as a result of over-tightening the belt is important to understand.
BTW, my Grandmother lives down in Auburn - beautiful part of the country you'all are in. Take care.
One other thought, my FE had a double lower pulley/belt system which worked very well and added the extra insurance in the event that you "threw" the alternator belt you had the water pump on it's own short non-adjustable belt - worked great for what it's worth.

Yes, I'm still around but have not posted lately.
SVO, I believe the day Cracker showed up with no doors was the day a few crazy Cobra guys took a crazy ride at crazy speeds, including 12 miles or so at +/- 110 mph. Of course, we were safe in that we had an escort from Officer Bud!
BTW, I got a new set of tires and found some fat ones for my 16" wheels. Mickey Thompson came out with a nice sticky street tire in a 315/45/16. I'm very satisfied with them and the traction is amazing.

Wasn't me. Mine has been running flawlessly until this morning when I went out and there is no spark??? What's the best place to start the diagnosis?
