Default Windy City Transplant

Folks,
Just moved down from the Windy City to take advantage of a little warmer climate. Didn't expect it to be so hot down here as it pertains to transferring an SPF into Gwinett County.
I haven't started the process yet but from all I'm reading on the ACC site,
I might be better off keeping it registered in Illinois. Don't they want us to have any fun around here?
Looking forward to meeting some of you whenever an event is scheduled. Only thing I see so far is the GMP event on the 10th of May. Anything going on before this that I'm unaware of ?
If anybody needs help with putting together something let me now. We had a very active club in Chicago with some 80 members. Recently retired so I've got a few extra minutes, hours, make that days available to help anyone if it is needed.
Hope to meet up with some of you soon!
Gman

Hey Gary..Just thought I would post a response. MISS YOU AND NANCY ALREADY!! Met for breakfast Sunday and you guys weren't there. Georgia Cobra Club is gaining a great member and a great member's wife!!!!

Rich Musson, Shelby, P-Siddy, Bob Malmen, Chris Damsch and Wolf (wolfie-- just for grins as usual) were here over the weekend to replace Mike's rear end. I haven't taken mine out yet. Mike had to replace some thinggamig jig that connected some other thingamijig....that makes the car drive.

Congrats on the move Gary. Wish you and Nancy all the best.

How far are you from the Summit Store that is between Macon and Atlanta?

I stopped there a couple of weeks ago on our way through.

It' like car porn in there, Leave all your money at home.

Best wishes,

Do have an email but not sure I want to post it on this site. Tried to look up your email but couldn't find one under your information. Give me a call on my cell 847-726-2251. Thanks!

I was just over to Rob Ginn's old place yesterday and Mark Ray informed me that GA has gotten real strict and he can not register any cars here in GA. Was that a surprise! I would think a transfer from another state may be OK. Any luck Gary?

Default Haven't tried yet!

Alex,
We still have a home in Illinois that we may end up living in more than half the year so for now, I'm claiming that as my permenant residence and keeping the car tagged in Illinois. I have a title for it there as well so I don't know how Georgia will transfer that into the state. From what I've read, they won't title a new one but may transfer a title if you already have one. Believe their is a bill in front of the state to help us out but haven't read much on its progress lately.
Anyone else heard anything?

Default Thought I was in the Deep South

Kim,
Haven't ventured much outside of Atlanta yet. Not much going on here as far as an organized club is concerned. Have gone up to North Carolina for an event or two. Haven't looked at going further south. Weather has been great here but eveyone driving a cobra appears to do their own thing. Where is Blas when you need him?
Hope all is well with you and the rest of the WCCC gang!

Gary,
Dont mean to hi-jack your thread, but your comment about transfer is unsettling. Planning to get a Unique 289FIA into the process before too long.
Alex
Did Mark give any details as to why he can't register cars. Gwinnett is an "emmisions" county, Hall is not.
Commish,
Any thing new in way of your most helpful updates? Any thing new on the pending legislation.

Apparently its not just an emmision issue. I really don't remember exactly what but I think its federal safety etc. When I stoped by in early April they had a Merc Marauder tricked out. I was thinking of having him do one for me. A ton of fun for under 20K. They will do about 180mph. Unfortunately he has all but closed the place up in Braselton.
