Default MK IV shocks

I need to replace the shocks on my '85 MK IV, I'm not interested in SPAX, rather a good road/track shock. I am willing to replace the springs as well if needed to obtain a good setup. Any and all information would be very helpful, thanks.

Get out your wallet and buy the Konis. Otherwise, it is Spax or a second tier brand.

I bought Koni coil overs for AC #185 Be sure and accurately measure them before purchasing. My rear Koni's are 1 inch too long and have too much travel if airborn. Gemini Racing in Chandler, Az. installed them awhile back.

Try Hawks Cars in the UK. They are a Kirkham distributor, but they also manufacture many parts for original Cobras and mkIV's, including shocks.

Default Mk IV Shocks

Bilstein are a good option for road and race, I have used Konis and they are excellent as well. The mistake people and some kit car manufacturers make is they get a Bilstein budget version normally with say 11mm shaft and fit it to a vehicle with some alignment issues and they have issues, I had a guy here who did some Bilsteins and one end had 14mm shafts and the front end had 11mm, I circumvented him and went directly to Bilstein and they supplied some excellent custom race shocks with 14mm diameter shafts etc.

A lot of cars like Aston Martin etc come out with Bilstein or Koni shocks so if you think you might want some options and get a bit serious spend a bit more money and the right shock for the job.

I had a chance to test a set of Bilstein on my FF5 roadster for Fastline Performance in upstate NY. I originally had Pro's what a improvement, contact Bruce Harwood great guy.

I need the original rear shock measurements for a 1985-6 AC MKIV, extended length, please. My rear suspension u-joints go into complete bind when weight is off the rear suspension. My rear Koni coilover height, at ride height:
15.50, suspension bind at 18.00

Can anyone help me?
