B2 Motorsports 427ci LSx Engines...

I've been working on some LS projects and wondered if there would be a market here in Cobra land for some 427ci LS engines. I can do them in both EFI and carbureted platforms (yes, with distributors) and they would be based on aftermarket aluminum blocks, AFR heads, forged rotating assemblies, etc.

Maybe something for our Aussie friends?

Pound for pound which engine do you prefer to build and work on, GM, FORD, or MOPAR, and which engine has the most upside 427 small block.

I bleed blue.....always have. There's a lot of things that I like about Fords in comparison to the others. However, I enjoy assembling any engine. It's all about detail and hard work. I love it.

Both GM and Ford have excellent 427-ish engine packages. I wouldn't do an older generation SBC in a 427 just because you have to use a 400 block and a longer stroke crank, which makes the pistons really short on a 9" deck. The LS motors are pretty hard to beat with 6 bolt mains, nice flowing heads, etc. They do require extra tools though, like a torque angle gauge to torque the mains.

I like the Windsor deck height. You can pack more inches in.

But to be honest, the "427" number has saturated the market and it's not really special anymore. Give me a big inch 385 series or FE any day...

He likes the big block tp and hp, his moto is no replacement for displacement, like many others

I understand it's harder where you are to get engines to pass inspection (engineering). So, most certainly, the LSx engines are a great way to make horsepower.

However, the power potential is so much greater with the larger engines. You may have to spin 6500-7000 rpm to make 625hp in an LS engine, where you can make 700 hp at 5500 with a large displacement engine.

There is more uniqueness there as well. There are millions of LS1/LS6/etc engines running around, but how many 505ci FE's or 572ci BBF's do you see?

Some of us work on cars other than Cobras once in awhile. I've been thinking of finding a 67 Nova SS to rehab and a nice stout LS engine would be perfect in one of those. There are lots of project cars that would benefit from an LS powerplant- they make great horsepower easily and are extremely light to boot.

I've got a package available that is strictly a non-computer controlled engine. Single plane intake, carb, and a distributor (uses a Ford 302 distributor..haha). It would make for a really simple engine that would make really good power. I can also use a factory LQ or LS block and do a 402ci engine for a lot less money.
