better put some guides on either side of the drive pulley or you'll have some real excitement. otherwise looks good...

Hard to see but the drive pulley is guided.

Hey Mark, new aviator? Lookin for a GT40? Anyway, there are washers on either of the belt, maybe 1/16 away from either side. I'm trusting Peterson to have the expertise to know what works.

Are we going to see u at RunNGun???

Mat

don't know what your talkin bout mat..?

washers? maybe spacers.... but not guides, like mine anyway.

i'm gonna try to go to hallet, watch, work, or play. haven't decided if i will take one of the cars. 3 mos. into retirement and getting things finally finished around here, somewhat.

NOTE: yours is the different belt, and they might argue that is the reason, but i would still use guides. especially in lieu of not being able to adjust the belt. if they insist in not needing guides send them a pic and get in writing they will guarantee their belt not to jump

Gentlemen,

I would be a bit leery of the belt tension as shown.

There is a significant amount of slack (as shown by the red lines) and I would be concerned about the hysteresis (IE: backlash or play) and the resulting wave form induced in the belt at the period of dynamic loading and unloading. This wave can allow the belt to climb the teeth and walk off the pulley without very large flanges to keep the belt in position. (I think this is Mark's concern.)

Also one must remember that more energy is produced during the loading and unloading period with a slack belt due to internal friction produced by the wave form and that energy must go somewhere, it is dissipated or "lost" as heat. This "extra heat" can decrease belt tooth life considerably.

For this belt configuration Gates recommends the Static Tension per strand to be from 23 to 26 lbs. See: http://PowerGrip Calculator

OK. All of the warnings aside..........Nice looking system.

You gotta take one of the beasts out to play.

Don't let retirement get in the way. It isn't a death sentence you know.

Now you have the time to mess around with your toys.

And women, etc. etc......

The crank pully looks fine, but I also agree that the pump pulley needs the guide that Vector1 has shown.

Doing some pulley shuffling....had issues with some serpentine pulleys, so we're having to backtrack a step or two.

Hope to have it on the dyno in a week or two at the most. I'm ready to kick the tires and light the fires in this thing...

Pass side gets vacuum regulator to keep the wet/vac pump from pulling too much vacuum on the crankcase. Drivers side gets a pop off valve to vent excess pressure. There's also a fitting on the rear of that valve cover for a vac gauge.

I will guess an aluminum, dual quad manifold for a V8 motor, I'll even narrow it down to a big block.....
