Paint is on!
PPG Midnight Sapphire from the vibrance line with a bit of creative ink mixing and shading by Bobby from Performance Paints Ltd. I was able to stick my phone into a corner of the work tent for this pic and it absolutely does not do it any justice. With 3 of the planned 6 coats of clear applied, I would be ecstatic to have the car as is, but Bobby is not done and he will be sanding again and wheeling her back into the paint booth a few more times before he's satisfied. The colour shows as incredibly complex medium to dark blue hues with a hint of magenta showing in the highlights. It looks as though you could literally dive in and swim in the paint.
I will post mo' better pics as soon as I can get access to the car in a less confined space and better light. The plan was to panel the interior in aluminum, but time is running out and the car has to be ready for Dec 12th. The carpet will go back in for now and the panelling will be done for another exhibit early in the new year.
I really like the look so far. No full length stripes - just the offset team stripes on the fenders as I still play with the idea of losing the roll bar and sidepipes for a more svelte street roadster configuration one of these days.

Yes - We lost the better part of a week as Bobby had to fly to LA to spend some time with his brother who is quite ill. I will be taking the week off to assist with the reassembly as soon as they give me the go ahead. Some parts are still at the platers and I also need to polish the wheels. Sidepipes are ceramic coated and will be refinished in silver for now, but after the show, I want to redo them in either black or white.

Oh yes - the models...
I did also say that I would keep you guys updated on the model auditions for the exhibit. No audition needed for this one - Natasha, ever lovely, loyal and dependable - here is a pic from a recent calendar shoot.

Oh yeah!! I had my car painted the same color . It is an amazing color IMO, it took a long time for me to decide on a color but it was the color that reached out and grabbed me when I saw it and I knew what color i was going with . Well ,now finishing the car is another story . The level and the type of light it is under effects the shade of blue, seemed to be like a candy, kind of translucent and you could acheive a lighter or darker blue with the amounts of color coats . Great chioce I love it cant wait see your car complete

Hey - great minds think alike! It really is a great choice; the lustre, depth and reflective qualities are indeed very similar to a candy paint job.
I took a look at your gallery photos - nice! I see also that you have a Premier Motorsports Cobra. It's one of the nicer, higher end brands and it would be nice to hear more about the build and ownership experience.

The rear of...
Natasha or the car?
I know, Pat - of course you mean the car. The painting is done now and The whole shebang - tent and car has been moved out to the back area of the shop for reassembly. I will head down there tomorrow and try to get some photos from different angles in bright natural light. She really does look spectacular from behind. The car looks nice too.
I am hurriedly detailing and polishing parts in my garage at home. Sudddenly, things that looked fine to me before are way too crappy to go back on the car. I spent three hours stripping, sanding and redoing the steering wheel today for example. Other parts are out for plating and should be done by tuesday. I will post more pics as things progress.

Well the car won best paint, best engine, and second overall. I have been too busy with visiting relatives to dust it off and take any good photos, but here are a couple of phone pics - dust and all. Sorry about the soft top, but I am heading out in a while and a few clouds have gathered.
And a rear end shot for Pat:

Man that looks good !! I bet those hood vents will stop the front end from lifting when you get on the super highways at 150 + over there .
Just kidding ... I really do like them ..... and will probably help get the hot air out of the engine compartment .

Lol! Yeah Bob - but I try to keep some high speed front end lift dialed in to help the car glide over the bumps and potholes . The cooling effect is quite dramatic though - I rarely use my cooling fans unless I really get caught in a long line of slow traffic.
