That's one nice SPF there Jack. And an impeccable taste for color I might add.

Thanks!! That picture was taken the day after I bought the car. I was driving home down the Blue Ridge Parkway with my wife. Notice the smile on my face. It is there every time I am around the car.

[quote=TButtrick;998984]No offense to any of my SPF or BDR friends but I'd put myself in line for one of these carbon cars before either.

Bet you swallow a lot of bugs in that ride My wind shield looks lke an old bug zapper after a summer drive. Would you wear a helmet with that set up?

I will not get into which is better Backdraft or Superformance, they are both fine automobiles, and when they are similarly equipped they cost about the same. That is sort of like the Ford Chevrolet arguments. Actually both of these fine automobiles come out of South Africa. I have been to the Backdraft sales office in south Florida, and have visited many of the Superformance dealers in several states. Here is a link to the Backdraft site stating they are built in South Africa, we all know Superformance is from the same location. I too will buy American at all times when possible.

Thumbs up

Wading through the funnies here I don't think anyone has mentioned the interior differences. When I was doing my due diligence before buying, both SPF and BDR were on my scope as were a few others. I wound up going to the London Cobra Show back in 06 just to look at and try on a number of manufacturers. I highly recommend that show BTW. Being one of substantial size and girth, how the interior fits me could have been a deal breaker and as it turns out it was. I sat in quite a few cars and it went something like this:

SPF with no mods = No way for my fat azz
SPF with "Big Boy" mods = OK but still quite uncomfortable
ERA (don't know mods) = No way
FFR (don't know mods) = No way
BDR No mods = Mmmm, maybe so, not bad at all
BDR With chubby guy seat (thanks ROUSHAC!) Aaaahhhhh, this is it!

There were many details of the SPF at the time that I really liked, such as the 8.8 rear, but ultimately I just didn't fit into an SPF and bought a BDR from Jay at Vintage. I haven't looked back since.

Default SPF vs BD

How do the SPF and Backdraft handle as a drivers car?
Factory five seem to have reasonable track performance.

Well your all correct, we like the car we bought best. It's just matter of what your values and preferrences are that make you chose your cobra replica. If bragging rights are important along with quality it's pretty hard to beat the alum. car from Utah. If quality and original design is paramount it's difficult to over look the ERA and Hurricane. In addition, the FFR products are the best in the business for home construction and racing. Now the SPF and Backdrft are very good factory built cars, retain thier repective values and are dependable. With that said, all the replicas have their in your face status, they are Cobra's.
Good Grief!
