Default Space wise? + \ - ?

Briefly- average space saved on a Ford Small block with "DRY SUMP" over the
normal pan?

Goal: is to have the motor sitting in the lowest point possible.

Mounting pump etc., remotely can be done too.

I have never installed a Dry System before.

DV-- Dry Sump systems can be a bear. -- they dont save a whole lot in a SBF (302-351)in terms of space.

Plus the cash expended could be more than you were thinking, --

Need more info -- what is your motor setup currently >?

Panavia...
Thank you but I am planning on this being my last Cobra build and this one is stricly for my wife and I. If it's faster heaven forbid, I might even go with an automatic!

Did something "Different" a few years ago with one of our Cobras.

Point is I don't know what motor yet ??? It all depends on how much room I can scavenge using a dry system vs. the normal pan.

I don't even have a problem making one, assuming I can "info" all the right parts and engineering!

DV

You will save the distance the stock pump extends below the counterweight

How far is the bellhousing going to hang down? Mine is about the same as the oil pan. Jim

DV,

You can lower the engine about 3 inches over a wet sump.

But for this to work you will have to go with a Tilton or Mcleod bellhousing and a small diameter flywheel.

RICHARD, How good it is to talk to you again, hope is all well.
Three inches will get me where I want to be! The bell housing is a good measure. The pump pick up too is another one.

Now to the drawing board. Than you guys.
DV

PS.. Richard, would you happen to know the largest flywheel (tooth count) that should be used? Or another way, the smallest flywheel that can be used on a small block?

The bellhousing will be the limiting factor unless you run one of these.

I have a Quartermaster reverse mount bellhousing, a 7-1/4" triple disc clutch, and a 105 tooth LGC flywheel. It's not something you want to drive on the street.
