Sometimes when you run trouble out of one localized area it splits up & you can't keep your eye on it. Maybe they're on to something bigger than petty theft & burglary & they are trying to keep tabs on it. Just a guess

Doug, The city has a stack of complaints from all the neighborhood and letters threatening lawsuits if they don't do something about this mess. Their attitude and that of the police is don't bother them for any reason unless someone causes violence.

Petty thief & burglary are just a side line with them and dope is their big business. The police in every city around here know about them and that old woman has places in almost every city. They did shut down the chop shop but won't touch them over the dope. But the DEA did come out and arrest 4of them a few years ago and confiscated that place and sold it at auction. It is still empty as the house has to be torn down and a new one built. I am to the point that I now believe what one of them was yelling a few months ago when another one was saying he couldn't come in as the cops were after him. The one that was yelling at him told him to come on in as the cops won't bother you here, NAME OF OWNER HERE, is paying enough of them that they won't even come over here if anyone calls them. Not sure that is completely true, but they will not come to that house for any reason except to assist one of them if they need help and to watch the bodies being hauled out after one of them overdoses. And since they made that stupid marijuana law that it is legal for medicinal purposes there is one fight after another in all of the towns around here.

We are getting off track for the thread so we should get back to the Garage Security issue.

That's a Horrific situation, Ron! Sounds really ugly & frustrating.

So to help get this back on track... Where does one go to buy the most up to date Home/Garage security system?

I don't know about your area, but we have two alarm companies here that are good and I mostly designed how I wanted mine from the way we had them set up in our computer buildings and then went to the best company here and asked them if they would install it the way I wanted. They did so and instead of leasing the system I bought it and pay them a fee to monitor it 24/7. I just had it upgraded about a month ago and am thinking of adding a couple of more features that won't be known about by the locals. What I like about the company I use is they have their headquarters here and not in Denver or some far away place, so they can contact the police and have them at a place as fast as they have a unit to respond. But with the cut backs, even that is getting to be a problem. Also lately after our last meeting with the city and police they try to have a patrol car drive by here at least once a night around 1 AM. That has cut down on the people prowling the streets a lot.

The best news is they are going to build a new police station and it is just across the alley from my property and within about 300 feet of that place. And we are getting some new deputies that aren't in the old bunch which is being transferred to other places as they try to keep as many as they can working.

I cannot imagine living like you do Ron,that has to be unsettling. Our only hassle,so far anyway is rambunctous kids.Once a year we find our mailboxs out in the woods, every so often the neighborhood gets egged. We have 3 different biker families living on our road, and most of us know of each other. We have always had German Shepards with a complete chainlink fenced in back yard. Also most of us are permitted, some carry, some don't.Any unwelcome intruders will face the only outcome the law allows us our complete protection from prosecution.

It could and used to be worse a few years ago. The past year since the economy crunched they are watching them and have actually taken some in and arrested them. Also after several young women vanished in this area in a short period, many of the really bad ones have moved on to other places. The ones left are just more of a nuisance than anything but they still should not be allowed to sell their dope in the open and drive around in unregistered vehicles while the rest of us have to register ours. They only have two over there now that are somewhat belligerent, but they are careful who they start in on as to many people around here now have and carry guns and they know with their records they are not going to be favored if they start a fight. Basically, I don't bother them and they spread the word to leave me alone. And now the neighbor that they stole the guns from is on their list of people to avoid and leave alone, so things will get better, especially once they build the new police station. And they have to go several miles up in the canyons to grow and process their dope now as they can't do it at the house.

That is one of the best types of security you can have. I have two small dogs, Poms, but they can hear a bicycle going down the street with the TV going and them in the back rooms and they let me know about it. I am taking care of one of my neighbors places while he is in Germany with his girlfriend visiting her parents and yesterday they started barking and I went to see what was going on and two of the Jehovah Witnesses had opened his gate across the street and started up to his house. I told them he wasn't home and to go next door. Even they won't go there most of the time.

Years ago the people in one of the SoCal mountain towns near us had a similar problem. Then one night the house in question mysteriously burned down. Nobody was caught for that and the occupants never came back.
