It's an interesting site and nice to see so much Shelby stuff in one place. It's just a little disappointing that the guy who built the website decided not to ask permission to use over one hundred of my photographs (and others) nor if I'd mind him downloading an entire chapter from my last book. So much for copyright huh? Kinda irritating having spent a load of my own time and money and some parasite comes along and simply 'borrows' it. There are moments when I can sympathise with a certain Texan gent......

Do you suppose he asked Dave Friedman about using his pictures?

Trevor, doesn't take much snooping to get an address, type up a pseudo attorney letter and scare the $#it out of him. Of course, you may have to type it in Belgium or German to get your point across. Welcome to the wild, wild west of the Internet...sorry to hear about that though.

The first set of photos on the model page seems to come from ERA's website. Nice collection though.

Does anyone have a clear photo of this type of fender badge? I have not seen one like this before.
This is the type fender badge I have am more familiar with.
Which leads to a question ... were there different fender badges used on the 289 cars? Anyone have photos?
Thanks!

Tim -
The badge in your upper picture is an "aftermarket badge" that was never used in production. There are various "289" , "351", and "460 " badges out there, including some new "FIA" badges that Shelby has made up for 7000 series cars. The original 2000 series cars used the "Powered by Ford" badge, and the 3000 series cars all used the "427 COBRA" badge.

Internet theft
Trevor, I noticed that some of the pictures seemed to be the same ones in your books and I am very disappointed that he did not seek your permission to use them. Perhaps he thinks as many do, that copying things already on the web is ok without permission. Or perhaps he thought you are like CS and would demand payment? Who knows...
That said, I do find his site very informative and enjoyable to see so many great pictures in one place.
My particular interest is in the AC A98 Coupe. I have not been able to find many pictures of it myself in the past, so many of these were new to me.
That is the car I would like to build a replica of. The body shape anyway, with a modern frame and suspension. A Kirkham BILLET chassis would be perfect!

Hi James
My gripe is that he did not lift them off the internet, just scanned them straight out of my book(s), ignoring all the usual copyright notices in the front page. People like that don't take a blind bit of notice and go straight ahead, happy that any legal action would cost more than I could ever recover. It's down to an individuals conscience and we know exactly where he stands. If this an a music industry issue, he'd be bankrupt by now but words and photographs are ripped off on a regular basis and little or nothing is done about it. If anyone here is into art, check out the name Sheperd Fairy, a so-called 'artist' who has made a small fortune purely based on the work of other artists. He doesn't have an original idea in his head but is a better businessman so he steals - oops, sorry, he 'borrows'. Yeah that's, borrows. (rant over :-)
