Default Center of gravity

I'm looking for the Cobras approximate center of gravity height for some suspension calculations. Doesn't matter if it's from an original car or a kit.

Any ideas?

Simon

Purely an educated guess, but I'd place it at about 12 inches from the ground, plus one, minus two.

I would be surprised if it's above the hub line of most examples.

CG height seems to be 16.5" for the FFR spec racer, just found it on the internet. I also had expected it to be a bit lower like in the 12-14" range.

I also found an interesting way of measuring it: http://home.earthlink.net/~whshope/id31.html

This is another tabular approach:

Cobras have so little weight above the engine centerline that it seems 16 inches is much too high. But as I said, mine is only an eddicated guess. Maybe fat driver heads pull the CG up?

Looking at all the components in my 3D layout, I'd estimate our chassis with suspension, plus the engine and trans is about 14.5"-15". Add the body (~24") and other miscellaneous and I wouldn't be surprised to end up with over 16".

I will get a suitable scale and give the tilting method a try.
