CSX6018 MSRP of $ 119,900.00 ebay link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Shelb...#ht_678wt_1167

Can some one explain this price for a fibre glass car ? A shelby roller 50K Aluminum shelby 427 engine 30k . Where did the extra 50k come from ? That must be some trans and wheel combo

ADR, you certainly have LOTS of questions. Fortunately, CC operators are standing by to answer every question that you have.

Who knows why anyone does anything. The seller probably thinks that some Russian Industrialist might pull the trigger. Some people think they are entitled to a 100% return of all of the costs related to the build.

Default Well...

It's not hard to justify 95-100 thousand for glass Shelby.
But the 'extra' 20 grand seems to be the 'convenience' charge that was pretty common in the near past. Now? Not so much.
Now please excuse me while I duck!

And don't forget the CS signature on the dash too.

SDR, the sales price of $99,000 (or whatever) is not that out of the ordinary for a fiberglass CSX asking price. In this market, he/she probably will not get it, but "go planet cobra" (a dealer) is entitled to attempt to make a profit.

It's a very popular color combo, billboards, all aluminum CS engine, etc.

Default Interesting Question

I think that if you take a hard look at the various folks (mostly dealers) who have new or almost new CSX fiberglass series cars for sale, you might be surprised how many have them listed north of the $115k line.

While I have no doubt that they are all very nice cars and that they are equipped with only the finest bits (sincerely not trying to be sarcastic), one can only wish them well in finding the right person to buy their product. Many though have been for sale a long time....

$100k (+/-) can buy alot of really nice used and new cars these days...

I can vouch for the dealer, Stephen Becker. He's a good guy and does a nice job. He often sells his cars for more than this at auction, so he probably figures that if someone wants it for the same price, then he will sell it to them, although the economy may make that tough....

Why don't you call Stephen Becker at Planet Cobra and ask him about the MSRP of $119,900. The promotional flyer included in the e-bay listing mentioned a Christmas sales price of $99,900. Call him tomorrow and make an offer he can't refuse.

Incidentally, in your back-of-the-envelope math you didn't include all of the parts or labor required to complete the roller (the costs add up quickly).

And as we know, MSRP, asking price, and selling price are often very different.

It's strange that the ebay listing states CSX6035 for the VIN but the text says 6035 and 6018.

In any case, CSX6018 is on the block at Barrett Jackson Scottsdale next week.

This car's sister (CSX6021) sold at BJ in Vegas for $128.7K

I blew it by not buying CSX4986 for 87K (+10%) a year ago (that was another Becker car.)

BJ isn't exactly the best place to find out what the "real" market value is for any car.

Lets be fair guys , the shelby magazine (third issue out now) says a roller is 49,900.00 . Panavia got his csx roller for 41k . Nobody here IMHO put 80k in options on there SPF , Hell their Kirkham , for that matter . I wounder if some got confused with the value difference between a fibre and a alum csx4xxx and the dealer didn't straighten them out , or maybe the dealers are confused . seriously 119k for a alumy I can see .

Making up some of difference between a CSX and a KMP.

The Kirkham roller has no paint. If you want a brushed finish, then add $8K. If you want a polished finish with two brushed center stripes, then add $12K (I think). The Shelby roller is painted.

I haven't prepped and painted a fiberglass body in a while, but last time I checked here in the Bay Area it was $15,000-$20,000 depending on how much the fiberglass had to be worked.

you can prep and paint a cobra down in the $10-12K range in the bay area if you are ready to do some sweat equity on putting stuff together and dont go nuts on the paint.

Yes, I should have qualified my statement, but in my case, I'm doing zippo and I want a REALLY nice job on a CSX.

Or, you can head up to Yuba City to Ken Pike's and get a little lower---depending on the paint selection and the finish.

Of course, I was quoted a show-quality job on my fiberglass 289 FIA for a whopping $38k down here in the Bay Area...

No, I'm not kidding.

You can spend a lot of money in a lot of different places when building one of these.

By the way, I didn't go for the $38k paint job...
