Neil, when you go to the BAR, you choose whether you want the BAR to use year of engine or year of body style. Most everyone uses 1965 for year of body style, and by doing so you can use almost any engine you want. Make sense?

Randy, I certainly hope it will be as easy as it appears, maybe I am WAY over-worrying about this....just wish this was 2 weeks ago and I could head to DMV on Monday, but will have to register in NV for 2010, then try CA next year. I will be calling DMV on Tue to confirm all SB100 gone and will let all know what I find out.

Even a call to Sacramento is no guarantee that you will get the truth. Last February, people on this site said numbers were available. I went to the local DMV, they said the numbers were gone. I said, call Sacramento. They called Sacramento. Sacramento said there were no numbers. Then a couple months later, people once-again posted that there were numbers. Once again I went to the DMV. They called Sacramento. Sacramento gave them a number. So it's hard to know what to believe at any given moment.

There seem to be very few DMVs that will actually make much of an effort to find out anything regarding these SPCN cars. Always use the year of the body if you get one and that takes care of the engine problems. Our local DMV won't even try to get one and anyone around here that has one has to go to Sacramento or one of the other DMVs that will help them. I don't know what is with this DMV but they just wait until the numbers are gone and then tell everyone they can't get through and that the numbers are all gone anyway.
