Default Cammers Who are the lucky ones?

Have to say when the Cammer was first talked about years ago,the desire to own one was beyond description.Looked into building one for my Cobra. What a wake up call when I found one that needed to be rebuilt.Next choice was a Boss motor, same sticker shock. Now happy with 385 series.Any of you have a Cammer?

$32,500 for a Cammer.
I used to pound the snot out of an original one until it became worth to much.
I can abuse a few FE & 385 motors for that much money.

I price them on occasion. Starting when they were $500 for a complete crate engine...and again when the 2 local ones went up to $1200 a piece and again when they went up to $2400, last time I checked they were in the $20K+ range.
Oddly they seem to inflate quicker than my wallet/bank account...they are beautiful, even though not the most practical.

There is no registry that I know of for the motor. No one knows for sure but the best estimates I have heard are that they made roughly 1100 motors.

Alan is right on the money with that number. You would think that with an estimate of 1000 to 1100 being produced you would see more of them, but through attrition there is very few left. They were used up. The drag strip decimated their numbers.

Back in the early 90's when starting my kit and looking for a motor,a local friend who has been traveling up and down Eastcoast USA buying and selling Ford HiPo,mostly NASCA,has amased a huge inventory of motors and parts to build them.At that time he had parts to assemble 2 Cammers, and wanted $20k for one of them.He also has Boss motors, still the same big money. In the end he found me a 460.He only deals with ultra high performance, but as you can imagine he knows a lot of Ford people.

How did you get your motor and how long have you had it?
As rare as it is, I'm sure at aprox. 1100 units made a good number of them have seen destruction from racing. With that said........a lot of old racers keep most of there old parts around there shops somewhere.

Many were shipped to drag racing teams. As I recall, a ford guy at the Romeo engine plant said there were a little over 2000, but almost 400 of them were internal.

Wow, that was years ago.

I saw two used as part of a coffee table. The comment was "Those are part of my retirement." As I remember, they were complete.

It was 1975. N&S speed on Wordward had two in the back. D. Nickles ( spelled wrong I am sure ) was selling all but the intake and carbs for $1200.

What a trip!

I saw one that was in a 1967 Cougar that was raced at some of the tracks in this area. He had to have a long track though as it just wouldn't run well on the short ovals. I have also seen two that are in speed bots that show up at most of the major car shows.
