Tool for installing braided line fittings
I read a post approximately 2 months ago describing a great tool for installing fittings to braided line. It is a great tool and the people that used it indicated that it was easy to use and very good quality. I tried a search and was unsucessful. Anyone have the this info?
Thanks,
Len

Don't do SS lines without them!! it is not worth the cut and slices.

I have never actually needed anything. I grease everything before assembly and do fairly well. I also tape the ss with electrical tabe and cut it with a 3 inch abrasive wheel

One word of caution ..... especially if you use a hacksaw ( 32 tooth or finer ) or an abrasive cutoff saw to cut the hose ..... clean it , clean it and then clean it again ! Don`t assume that because the hose is new , it`s clean inside . You would be surprised at the crud that can get inside a piece of hose and you sure don`t want that in your engine . The Koul tool really works well as I used that on my project . Wish I had one when I was doing field service work for Parker .

I use about the same approach but I have various sizes of short steel rods that I stick in the end of the hose to hold it firm. Once the cutting is done, I then blow it out with my compressor.

I've used the Koul Tool and compared to the manual method it wins hands down particularly if you're going to be doing more that a couple of fittings. You still have to use a little bit of care in cutting the lines since anything has limits but by and large a very useful tool.

I did almost all of my lines by hand and I decided to by koul tools when I was doing some rework. I felt like an idiot...why didn't I buy this tool before? I will never make another braided steel hose without this tool.

Same here. It only takes a minute to do a fitting. No special tools needed.

If you are still cutting the hose with some type of saw check this out http://www.anplumbing.com/installation.html I have done this several times and it works perfectly everytime.
