Default Dual friction pressureplate and LMC clutch

I have earlier bought a Centerforce dual pressure kit from summit.

Now i have change to a T56 trans and i needed a new clutch 26 splines.

I ordered a dual pressure LMC clutch . http://www.summitracing.com/parts/CTF-LM384148/.

Centerforce says that you must buy the hole kit with pressureplate and clutch. You cant only change clutch? Why?

Then i asked another big seller of Centerforce. He says that i CAN use the LMC clutch?

Weird system. Cant change just clutch?

Centerforce claims that if the clutch disc is worn out, the pressure plate likely is, too. Not a bad position for clutches used in high-performance cars.

I guess you can mix another disc with the CF pressure plate, but knowing how carefully CF matches their components, I'd be leery of doing so. You might be better off selling the CF clutch set and buying the correct one.

Or at least be sure you have a blowproof bell housing.

FWIW, Cobras rarely require anything beyond the most basic clutch - a Centerforce I is plenty adequate. These are very light, high-powered cars, not like 4000-pound muscle cars. You don't need a monster-grip clutch for clean hookups. Your left knee will appreciate it, too.

It may have to do with the clutch disc thicknesses.

Centerforce is an odd duck compared to all other companies. Not only are their items apparently made out of gold (high price) but their counterweights cause a lot of problems.

I have ran into this before and I think it's because of the thicknesses of the clutch discs.

I can't make any comparison but I can report that my Centerforce I, with the counterweights removed, is an extremely light-pedal yet very grippy unit. I've driven any number of moderately-powered OEM cars with heavier clutches. (And sometimes less predictable grip.)

I was not sure what clutch was in the car, as that info was missing from the paperwork, but the original owner recently updated me on the history and build. He removed the counterweights after having trouble with high-RPM shifts.

Not having driven a Cobra or similar vehicle with any other clutch, I can't make distinctions, but this setup is just fine for my purposes.

I have not have any problems with my weights, so far anyway.

I dont think the clutch is thicker then the other? Im going to messure.

But the LMC clutch is little tuffer. That whas what the Centerforce seller told me.

The clutch looks the same on both sides. Small pucks. Perhaps it is better grip. But hope it is smoth when relese the pedal?

Maybe you who are better and english can get some info about the clutch?
