That one was so cleverly spun that most readers probably didn't even realize that it was just more sales propaganda....

I got it.

Boy, I sure do enjoy as good ERA owner fight.

Before Ron kicks me off this thread, I really think the new FFR changes are great. I can't wait for the MKV FFR.

MKV? Isn't that what Speed Racer drove? No, wait... that was Mach 5.

Mr. Bruce,

A distant rumor was that you had sold the molds to FFR for a 289 version. Are they moving forward with this?

Bill S.

Regardless of engine, outboard brakes are a better drive train on any ERA.

Only when it comes time to swap out the rotors and pads ;)

Never have that issue with my FFR

Incorrectumoondo, oh used-car breath.... My outboard braked rear also allows me to tweak the toe and camber of the rear to my heart's content.;)

On the Jag rear, camber is adjustable via shims. Sadly, toe is not adjustable at all.:(

Bruce, if people could get a chassis from FFR without the body I think you'd have more success moving them. And if that chassis already came with the mods for the 289 tank it would help even more. I suspect much of the problem is you have guys with painted cars that are looking at buying a second body and paying for paint again, plus making mods to the chassis for the tank which creates an unknown for people. That also creates lot of explaining to do at resale time versus a kit that was that way from the start. If you had pictures of complete cars along with detailed pictures of the chassis mods required it may help people get comfortable with the idea and consider it viable. All of this is probably obvious to you but maybe not to the customer. Show lots of pictures, a detailed list of what's involved from a fabrication standpoint, and a list of costs. Remove the doubt and unknown and you'll have a better chance of selling them.

mr bruce 02-04-2010 05:42 AM

There are no frame modifications. The body fits directly onto a standard mkIII frame. I don't have the funds to buy another frame, that's why I would give a body away to demonstrate that it fits rite onto a standard mkIII frame,(and mkI,II for that matter).Painted and finished, again no $$$. but I myself would rather see a raw body, BEFORE paint, to see how much body work is needed. look close at the one in the pictures, NO SEAMS to repair.

jmimac351 02-04-2010 07:08 AM

The body does look great and I understand that it drops onto the chassis but what about the 289 filler cap in the proper place with the tank? I guess that's where I am confused. I've talked to others and they mentioned frame mods being needed. These things are obvious to you because you are so deep into it but maybe not to others (me).

MR Bruce. I may be interested in a slabside in the future. However, as you can see in my Gallery, I haven't the room right now:o. Your Slab with extended flares is awesome!

mr bruce 02-04-2010 08:21 AM

I don't want to clutter this thread any further, so if you have any Q's please drop me an E-mail or call. as for all the other parts, gas filler/tank, yep I have that too, along with side pipes, rollbar ,front brake scoops, LeMans top, everything to make an authentic looking FiA car, built on an f5 frame. ( Slabside, and CompCar too) ,thanks 13.

Getting this thread back on track................several days ago on either the FFR web site or the forum site there was a picture of the silver MKIV and a second picture of a new 5.0L Coyote engine that is going into the 2011 Mustang.

Could it be that these guys are working with Ford Racing to make a CA legal running car using the 5.0L Coyote engine, similar to the work that has been done with the GM LS3 engine??

Could this be the piece of the puzzle that is missing????

I was thinking that they simply modified the MKIV frame to accept the Coyote mill. I'll be there for the unveiling on the 13th.
