Default Emblems

I'm putting the finishing toches on my Unique 427. Getting ready to install the emblems. Each has two post and spring steel quick nuts. Was wondering if I should use some type of adhesive in addition to secure them .Thanks

When I got the emblems that I put on my car, I used two sided tape and did away with the posts. I didn't want to mess with drilling little holes and the tape was put on in 1996 and those emblems are still on there today. I got some thin black tape from Ford back then that they used for that kind of stuff.

I used 3M Emblem Tape, it's double faced and works great! Available at most auto stores.

The 3M tape is so good I used it to put the emblems on my pentroof valve covers. I did a couple of trials with some scrap metal and the oven. No sign of letting go at 400 deg.

I'll use the tape on the rocker cover emblems, too. However, ERA was nice enough to drill all of the holes necessary for all of the emblems, so I'll use the posts and quick nuts on those. (In fact, all of the holes for anything on the body were drilled by ERA, the only exception being the left outside mirror).

The original owner mounted my engine emblems but I believe he used the same material. Absolutely no sign of loosening or shift in 6k miles and three years. I'm sold.

Silicone was also recommended to me by a guy who's built a bunch of cars. I still don't have any emblems on my car...but I'm thinking about it.

If you want to place your emblem on your car without cutting off the two prongs then follow this procedure:

Find the center of your hood and trunk and place a piece of 1" masking tape (about 4" long) and mark a verticle line on the masking tape in the area you want your emblems. Then dab a small amount of silicone on your emblem prong tips (I believe they run verticle) and then touch your prongs on the verticle line. Use a center punch to lightly mark your holes and then drill thru the masking tape a 3/16" hole for each prong. Remove the masking tape and place a small amount of silicone on the center of your emblem about the size of a dime and press your emblems onto your car. Place a piece of blue masking tape over the emblem to hold it secure over night. The next day remove your tape and you should be good for 8 or 10 years.

Sorry to make this so remedial but I had a couple emails asking for instructions.

I drilled the holes and also used silicone to keep things from jumping around.Still there since 93.
