Default Shelby American Chassis CVX?

I am looking into purchasing a Shelby Cobra built about 12-15 years ago. When I was looking over the chassis though, I saw that it has a tag that says "Shelby American, LLC Chassis No: CVX-4044". I can't find much/anything about CVX-???? chassis. Does anyone know anything about these?

Thanks,
Drew

Drew, I'm not 100% sure but it sounds like one of the extremely rare continuation vehicles made in France by the famous Lepew company in their skunkworks race shop. First giveaway is the way the French spell the word chassis. I'll do more research and report back.

?? The French certainly do not spell the word chassis as "chasees."

Sundude, pretty sure the "Lepew Co." along with "skunkworks" is meant to clue us in.

Mea culpa. I think in my early-morning, bleary-eyed haste I failed to get the joke. How embarassing...

Looks fakey-do to me. Those blank plates are widely avail. Numbers look printed not stamped.

The tag is printed but the "chassis number" CVX-4044 is stamped. I believe that the car was built 15-20 years ago if that makes any difference. Thanks for your help.

I think the bigger point here is that the Chassis plate on this car, most likely, has nothing to do with the car it's attached to. Those plates can be bought online and stamped with anything you want.

No Shelby product has a "CVX" prefix in it's chassis number.

If you want to find out the make of Cobra you're looking at, post some pics of the entire car, including hood hinges and suspension shots.
The folks on this site will ID it in about 5 minutes

Yes, what Kurtmart said above. You can also look on the frame, under the hood at front passenger side for a stamped ID number.
Need pics, pics, pics!!!
The guys here will dissect that car in a heartbeat.....

I think that the rear suspension is out of a Jaguar but I know little else about the car.

Thanks,
Drew

Box tube frame (I think), tilted radiator, round tube x-member in the engine compartment and inboard Jag rear - I'd guess it might be an early ERA. It is definitely not a Unique (upright rad., fuel cell in trunk).

In the third pic - is that a round tube main frame rail? If it does in fact have a round tube chassis, it could also be a Contemporary. Anyone recognise the hood scoop shape?

Then it's not an ERA.
In the picture below, it looks like the main frame rail is round. If that's the case it might be a Contemporary with coilover front suspension. I'm trying to think of the other companies of that time that used the Jag IRS. Everett Morrison did but that does not look like their frame. Butler may be another possibility. Someone who can positively i.d. the suspension setup will chime in soon I'm sure.

The hood opening looks small. It appears that the entire radiator is tucked under the body in front....
