Thumbs up Pay it Forward to Make-A-Wish Foundation

Ok guys, I've tried to figure out the best way to make this post as it is not about me, but about the car being donated, and about the additional funds we are trying to raise for the Make-A-Wish Foundation(tm). I'll keep this short.

This is the car being auctioned off at the Barrett Jackson auction:

Here is the web page for the car and a bit of background as to why we are doing this:

http://payitforwardmotorsports.com/

This is the secure web page on the Make-A-Wish foundation server for direct cash donation.

https://secure.wish.org/friends/payitforward.html

What I am looking for is everyone and anyones assistance in getting the word out, not always about the car being donated, but about the donation page seeking additional funds (not to cover the cost of the car, 100% of all donations go directly to Make-A-Wish)

The more funds we can donated, the more the Make-A-Wish foundation can assist the kids.

That is about it in a nutshell, again, all I ask is that you send a link to friends and family, let them decide whether to donate or not. I'm also asking for your assistance in getting the word out to other forums you may be members of by contacting the admin/owners and asking permission in which to post the link and the request for donations. With the amount of membership we have, I'm hoping to make this request go viral around the web in a very short time.

Again, I thank all of you in advance for your assistance and your contributions.

Sincerely,

Bill S.

I wish you the best! I can tell you from experience that donating a car at BJ is a lot of work because we did it in Jan '09.

Gary Bennett is going to be your best friend. Trust him.

Do you know when you are on the docket?

Just a heads up, we are officially on the roster, should have a lot number assigned in the next week or two. Again 100% of the cars highest bid is going directly to Make-A-Wish, Barrett Jackson has graciously waived their buyer/seller fees for this car.

Sincerely,

Bill S.

Just wanted to publicly thank Reliable Auto Carriers as they stepped up to the plate and have graciously donated space in one of their enclosed transport trucks for the Make-A-Wish foundation 1938 Pro Street Willys. Again, not an endorsement or an advertisement, just a acknowledgement of their generous donation.

Sincerely,

Bill S.

Thumbs up

Well, I must really tip my hat to the folks at Barrett Jackson, just got off the phone with them and they have assigned lot # 359.1 to the car. This places it in prime time Friday evening. I am truly blown away by the generosity of almost all who I have contacted in regards to this car. Now let's hope we can garner a world of interest and top 6 figures for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

Well, the car goes over the block this evening, yesterday was a crazy day with interviews by Speed Channel (to be aired at a later date)and a couple of local media outlets. Mothers car polish stepped in and will be giving the car a top to bottom detailing some time this morning. Tons of attention when people find out that 100% of the car is being donated to the Make-A-Wish foundation.........Going to be an interesting day......Wish me luck and if you happen to be here today, stop over at tent 4 (Row A), directly across from the Marathon Bus display and say hello. I'll be wearing shirts with an embroidered 38 Willys on it that reads payitforwardmotorsports.com.........

I sincerely wish you the best. When I did mine in Jan '08 it was an emotional rush. Plus I had to prepare the Cobra for shipping. I didn't get any sleep for two days.

Bill just called....

The car hammered at $60,000.

Bill is exhausted, but happy with the outcome... He says the bidding is quite soft there, across the board.

...still, all of his proceeds going to Make-A-Wish.

I just happen to catch the action live on Speed Channel when it went across. I think I saw Bill opening up the trunk as it was placed on the block.

Congrats on the sale! Not surprised of the "soft" bidding...seeing lots of cars going an easy $10-20K below what they were even a year ago. And with B-J having something like 4 auctions this year, a lot of product to move in this very soft market. I'm planning to attend the OC show just for the experience.

Hey guys, back at the house, exhausted yes, thrilled with what I was able to donate to the Make-A-Wish foundation. Going to push a little to see if I can get more of you to make direct donations on my web page to Make-A-Wish..........
