Default Hooking up a stereo to a BDR cobra

I know, I know...80% of you will tell me not to hook up a stereo and just enjoy the sound of the car. I actually like to have some tunes playing in the background when I am strolling down the road or at a car show. SO I purchased a hidden stereo system but I don't anything about hooking it up. I am only stuck on where to attach the red wire that says "+12 volts switched". It's the main power to the unit. Does anybody have any idea? Does it just attach directly to the battery?

Michael,
12 volt switched should only have power when the ignition is on or on accessory. Otherwise if you forgot to turn it off it could run your battery down.

...or you could install a hidden switch and hook power to that. That would be the route I would go in a Cobra if I wanted a stereo.

Here is a unique trick I do when I install a stereo in a Backdraft. I install a toggle switch between the hot side of the ignition switch and the stereo. This will allow you to have the stereo playing while the keys are not in the ignition switch. This way you can walk away from your Backdraft and not leaving the keys in.

I hook it directly to the battery with a fuse near the battery terminal. It real simple, turn your radio when not in use. I doubt your cobra is a dailey driver so when you shut it off you are more aware such as putting it gear with the parking brake.

I could never have another cobra without a radio I LOVE IT. I hook my Ipod up on the radio aux and have 5000 songs at my fingertips. I made a small speaker boxe to go between the seats, no base but with the engine exhaust I dont need base!!

To be hones with the ipod hooked up I have control of volume, tuner etc, I have a wired remote but only use it to turn on and off. Now I do have the 5th gen nano.
