Sorry for the delayed response. The problem was a crimped fuel line. Car is running great. BTW, my engine is the 427R version with "550 hp". On the card that came with the motor, it says 524hp. We had it dyno'd and it showed 465hp at the rear. A few people have recommended chainging the carb to the pro system setup. Has anyone done this? They say it makes the car run smoother and adds HP. My only concern is voiding the roush warranty.

If it's running good, drive it for a while. 465 hp will get you down the road just fine.
You can always swap out the carb after the engine is out of warranty.

You do not want the 550hp 427R sure you get the hP at 5800 rpm's, do you drive around town at 5800 rpms? no you want the SR which is what you have because it gives you low end torque, that is what you feel not horspower. Dyno numbers can also swing 25% based on temp, air density, dyno machine etc
As far as the name plate mine came with the exact dyno numbers, engine number and even installer name.
less than 1% on this forum can manage 400hp, you guys crack me up, I want 600 hp etc, heck get a nascar engine they are 800 hp at 8000 rpms, you would have to drop the clutch everytime you left a light to prevent it from stalling.

Yep, I have found that I run out of talent long before I run out of horsepower!

Something is quirky that is only a 11% powertrain loss. You must have magnetic air bearings. Most powertrain losses are 15 to 20%. 550hp*20% -550 = 440hp. so even at 15% powertrain loss 467 hp where is where you are at the rear wheels. I would contact roush is it is only 524hp with the "r" engine. I have never seen one that low but is very close to the sr. Did you call Roush 1-800-59roush and ask them to email the dyno sheet. The engine s/n and r,sr,sr/tw will be at the top. The little tag hanging from the distributor that indicates hp and oil pressure does not indicate which "r" version.

Engine
I would say that those numbers are very good at the rear wheels. Most of these cars lose more in the 20 percnet range if not more depending on the exhaust and rear end. We have worked with the headers and side pipes and picked the cars up 60 to 70 HP at the rear tires before and that is about 80 to 90 at the flywheel.
You should have a very nice driving and running car with that package.
Good luck, Keith

I test drove SPF with a 427R. It died after about 3 blocks. The mechanical choke, which had no attached cable, was engaged. Don't think it could be this simple but why not check.

Sounds like a vaccum lock in fuel system which means that fuel will flow to pump until tank runs out of air due to no tank vent in fuel tank fuel will then stop flowing and shut off motor. also you need to check ignition that ignition moduel isnt over heating and shutting off spark to plugs.loosen fuel cap or leave it open and drive car if it dosent stall then you have found problem no fuel no go.
Good Luck Larry Spillman A Happy Cobra owner/

yikes. I only posted that because people were still responding with remedies when he already responded with the cause. Now I'm guessing the engine was in a BDR?

I was making fun of another late to the game post on another thread. It pays to read all the replies before posting
