I'm an idiot!
We knew for some time now that the front passenger coil over was leaking fluid, but started hearing some clunking noises on the last day of driving in October (car has been on the kwik-lift since then).
Finally got to looking at it Saturday - wanted to pull the coilover off to send back to Aldan for repair.
Discovered that the caliper mounting bracket bolts were very very loose and wheel bearing needed a little tightening. Decided to look at the driver side while we were at it.
Found the clunking noise; shock was broken in half! After a "well... there's your problem" moment, checked caliper mounting bracket and one of the bolts was basically only finger tight.
There had been some pulsing in the brake pedal, but I had figured it was just a warped rotor - fortunately, the car wasn't driven more than a couple times last year. A hard stop probably would have been catastrophic.
Somebody is sure looking out for me, because I certainly wasn't!
Will get the shocks off to Aldan today and all bolts have been cleaned and Locktighted on.
