Winning E-Bay Bidder SRT-8 Challenger Denied!
Check this out guys. Guy is the winning bidder on a no reserve E-Bay auction for a new SRT-8 Hemi Challenger (about $10,000 under sticker) & the dealership in CA. won't sell the car to him or honor the deal - check out this thread: http://www.challengertalk.com/forums...s-29-1k-34598/
This should be very interesting. If this were the other way around (like if the guy bid $20,000 over sticker), the dealer would fight to the death to collect.

I'm not sure what you are insinuating?? That the guy shouldn't expect to win, even though he fulfilled his obligation? Or that's what happens on e-bay?? What?
I sell on e-bay regularly, most are no reserve and are usually vintage 'stang parts that have been in storage for over 25 years. I have yet to not sell because the bidding was too low. I have never canceled a sale either. I have also purchased on there, in the 6-7 years I have been buying/selling the only issue I had was with a motherboard I bought and the guy was virtually impossible to contact until after the time for a return had lapsed. Like every single enterprise in the WORLD ( the U.S. is part of that) there will always be a few dirtballs.
If the bidder sticks to his guns, he should get what he has bid for...screw the idiot dealer. They must be using the economic model that required Chrysler to get a second bailout, if the first wasn't sickening enough. In this economic arena, I would think that any jury pool would have a pretty dim view of this behaviour.

Our society has lost all ability to show ACCOUNTABILITY. That dealer should own up to their F up and move on.

Like I said, a complete lack of accountability. Either fire your internet sales manager or severely reprimand him/her and move on. How hard can that be?!?

I hear those commercials on the radio where they babble at about whisper level telling you you have to be God to get the financial rate they are advertising. Now they can sit there with a straight face and say it was a mistake? Uh-huh...sure.
I bet if you go back a year or so when those Challengers first hit the floor, you would have seen a sign on the window adding $10k to the MSRP for premium pricing or whatever excuse they used.

BTW, for those who might be wondering why we've left this thread here, since it doesn't involve a Cobra...
Many here use ebay for cars/parts...learn from this.
Yes...there are stupid, fraudulent morons out there, and not all of them are from Nigeria.
Personally...the only thing I've ever bought from ebay are strap screws for my Panerai at $50 for a pkg of 10.

Just did a read at the Challenger forum after reviewing what I found on Club Cobra. They have had approximately 250,000 hits. The number of other forums that this are being linked exceeds 200 sites. It sounds like Chrysler is getting involved and there is talk about losing the dealerships 5 star rating. The dealer has shut down all sales phone lines and is not answering their phones, at least according to one article that I read. If you do a search using a search engine I found other blogs that are in other countries that all have detrimental discussions about the dealer and the issue. it also appears that other news media is getting involved, one references the uniting of all the car groups in a common cause. This maybe an understatement but this is has to be a huge pr nightmare to a dealership that otherwise seemed to have a good reputation. The latest information I could find concerns ebay's response to the issue as well as the car dealer. The car dealer is blaming ebay on removal of the reserve price and ebay is refuting the information.

I've been reading all 100 pages of this thread and its really impressive.
I'm rooting for him to get his car for the price that he actually bid.
The part that I'm really impressed with is all the other forums, car clubs, etc that seem to have banded together for this cause. People from all sorts of forums are chiming in their support and its really nice to see. Whether or not he gets the car remains to be seen.
