The other option is to get a FL antique plate, which can be registered for replicas:

I have my HP # on mine, and when parked you hear people comment sometimes on what they think about it. Kind of funny. On the CSX car I had ordered I was going to get "CSX 4919". A friend has "Pet Snake". Lot's of good ones out there.

Looking at the photos from RAO-3's post today, your car is getting closer to being done. Pretty soon, you will have something to hang your plates on
For a number plate, there are some great suggestions here. I would tend to go with something that a car nut would get, but not necessarily the general public. On the other hand, I would not go with something so obscure that only a handful of people would understand.
