Personalized Plate Opinions
I'm considering getting a personalized plate for my ERA 427, but I'd like to keep it a little obscure. I have a couple of ideas, and I'd like to hear your opinions:
"CBRA CTC"
My favorite word in the English language is "copacetic", hence "cobracetic", hence "CBRA CTC".
Reference : co·pa·cet·ic /ˌkoʊpəˈsɛtɪk, -ˈsitɪk/ – adjective - Fine, excellent, going just right.
"482 CID"
For those in the know, this says "yes it is a big block", but will look somewhat like a standard plate.
"ERA 783"
Again for those in the know, my chassis number, while still looking somewhat like a standard plate.

If you have an ERA and want to be listed, contact me with your info and I'll put it up. The minimum info I need is chassis number and location. The rest is up to you. The most information needed would be: chassis number, body type, city, name, CC nickname, and email address.

Mooch,
I think you are over-analyzing. You should pick one that makes you happy. What other people think doesn't matter. If it did you would be driving some sort of mega-mileage Yugo instead of a Cobra.

If those are the absolute three choices you have narrowed it down to, I'd go with 482 CID. Car guys will get the message. The other two are too obscure (IMHO).
Do a search here. There's a really long thread that has pages and pages of ideas.

I agree with Ed, don't over analyze, just pick one that you like.
I put "SCALES" on my plate, most people think I work at a truck scale place or something along those lines. When the real reason for it is that one of my friends that helped me build the car named the whole build "Project Scales" from the very beginning. Sort of like "Project Bluebook".
So for the entire time it took to build the car, it was known as "Project Scales" by friends & family so I thought SCALES would be appropriate for the plate.

Search Cool Cobra Tags to get some ideas. If I am at a light, and the person infront of me has personalized plates, and I can't figure out what they mean by the time the light changes; I say he wasted his money.

I don't think you can get a 3 letter/3 number custom plate in Florida...

The first one is pretty obscure. I doubt anybody will get it.
The second one will be almost instantly understood by any car guy.
The last will be almost instantly understood by every cobra guy, buit probably not many else.
I was considering "MY 42". Because, as we all know, 42 is the correct answer. A little obscure, but not by much.
But I ended up with "WHT NKL". Some get it, some don't.

I like it. For those who don't get it, just google "42"
In regard to my choices, I would really be happy with all three. The first would definitely need explanation. It is more of an inside joke with a good friend of mine.
I'm probably going to go with the middle one... we'll see though.

How about REAL1? Oops that's already taken.
And I'm REAL2. So you can't do that.
The first one is WAY too hard to figure out for mere mortals. maybe if you had a degree in Scrabble or something.

MWMWMW - Not easy to read from 50ft. away. If you're Veteran, get a Veteran tag. It will get you out of tight spot if you ever happen to get in one.

Actually, your plate isn't that much different than I plate I actually do have on my Cobra.

I always liked this one. It came with my Cobra when I bought it.
It's since been retired back to the DMV and I believe in use by someone else.

No one cares except you, that's why they are called vanity plates in MN.

FWIW, I find anything to do with snakes a little... overdone. Every Mustang Cobra I pass seems to have SSSSSNAKE or HISSSSS or FASSSST or SSSSTRIKE or some fairly brainless variation. I'd rather see clever and original and maybe a touch "inside the brotherhood" than one more snakey/hissy/slithery variation.
It's not usually possible to get three-letter/three-number plates in most states, since they would overlap with older standard-issue plates, but I still plan to get one of the fake California black-and-yellows that reads ERA 707... for shows, natch. I even found nice images of 1965 and 1966 year stickers...

Yep. That's why mine was retired when I got the car. Plate is just plain "CSX 4250" now. Don't think that's too vain. It has proven to be something of an issue when I have tried to explain to a law enforement officer that it's also the VIN! He told me that was illegal to have the plate and VIN the same. His boss happened to drive by and told him to leave me alone....
