Looking at the Superformance MKIII or the CSX 4000. Does anyone feel the CSX is worth 10,000 more, and why..

You might do some searches on this subject. A LOT has been written on all of the cars and the opinions are numerous and varied.

As Doug says do some reading on it. I think the best thing is to compare them side by side somewhere local at a meet or a dealer as you're talking apples and oranges.

I can't believe this thread hasn't flushed out "Real 1" yet....

Honestly, everything the guys have said (almost) is true. Do your homework and DRIVE a couple if you can. It will all come to personal preference and comfort with your purchase. Every brand has the + and the -... If I add them up, my total would be different than yours. In short, there is no one here (almost) that will give you the perfect answer to make you sleep at night. And, once you've decided, the same applies to your engine, trans etc.

One thing I can assure you though, is that you will always have questions and you will always be doing something new and working on your car. That part never ends, and that part is also some of the fun that comes with owning one of these.

It's also what we're here for.....

Just though I would ask... I understand everyone's different, and I need to find out for myself. I can get a Superformance built with a 427 R Roush TKO 600 18" poliehed wheel and bumpers for 70K.

Or I can get a CSX the same motor and trans with the stock wheels and tires and do the upgrade later on the wheels and tires, bumpers for around 80K.

I'm going to drive to Seattle this weekend to see both.

Rick, a lot of variables out there left unmentioned. My first question would be are either the CSX of SPF early or later built cars? A

lso, not many CSX owners install Roush 427W's in their 427 cars. So that may be a "unique" quality for any potential CSX purchase.

The SPF's and CSX's are both top notch cars. There's a lot of material here on both. If you want something closer to original spec, then the CSX is it, though with 18" wheels, the SPF may make more sense.

If you are going to go the CSX route, I would encourage you to look hard at putting an FE in it (preferably a 427 or 428). Seems that most people who go the CSX route do so for authenticity reasons and an FE is consistent with that. Although it might not matter to you, it will likely matter in a re-sale. Just something to consider. Great that you can go and see both cars in person.

I have driven both and I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. I know there are other opinions out there but they are both at or near the top of the line. I know both companies will take very good care of you as well. Which ever one you choose I think it should be RED to correspond with your CC name.

Rick,

Steve (PANAVIA on CC) has a Superformance and a CSX car. The CSX car is not on the road quite yet, but we're all looking forward to a side by side comparison. Steve mentioned that he though that the seat and seat position was more comfortable in the SPF (for him). Both are great cars, so you'll have to weigh what's important to you.

There are also a ton of good pre-owned cars out there with low miles, so it would be worth your time to scan the market to see what's available.

I owned both for approx 8 months and found for me the csx is much more comfortbale and natural feeling. The smaller steering wheel in the SPF I didnt care for as well as the steering and brakes compared to the CSX. Just my 2 cents. The SPF was a much higher quality fit and finish and more solid feeling body, doors, hood etc.

I'm assuming you are going to Park Place. If you have not talked to anyone yet, ask for Dave Brusky. I hope I spelt that correctly. Anyway, I dealt with Dave for 8 years before I finally bought my car. He was always helpful even when he knew I was just looking to keep the flame of desire alive.

You'll lose money right out of the gate on both, but my guess is that they'll both retain their resale value relative to the price differential.

I can see the CSX at $80K but you should be able to get in the SPF for $60K. Keith Craft has a brand new SPF Royal Blue with Wimbleton White Stripes he just installed one of his 580HP Small Block 427 strokers in with TKO600 for under $60K....

It ALL depends on what you actually want. If you want to look under the car and see a round tube chassis, vs a 2x3 channel go for the CSX. If you want something newer style, go SPF. I too have read just about everything people have had to say and it comes right down to the Chevy / Ford wars. Whatever you like IS best because you chose it. I chose a Superformance myself and am currently wrapping up another install for a client on one. Both my car and the one I am finishing, have 17" wheels, a Windsor based engine and are "non standard" blue/white colors. Also as at least one person stated, the fit and finish on the SPF cars is much better than the CSX cars from Mexico. The CSX cars out of HiTech are much nicer. Contact me offline if you are interested in figuring out which you are looking at, for the most part I can tell them apart.

I'm leaning towards the SPS. I can get everything I want for under 70K.

That would be a Roush 427R - TKO 600 - 18" polished wheels - bumpers.

I really like the look, way the SPS sits on the 18" wheels. Not exactly old school, more modern look. You can see what I'm talking about on D&M Motors website.

Has anyone ever worked with Kevin or Mike at D&M ?

I'm on my way to Park Place to look and sit in both cars. I'll know more tonight, thanks for all the input.
