Mickey Thompsons S/R's vs. Hoosier Pro-streets

OK, who's got either, and how do they work for you? I'm running on now-7-year-old BF Goodrich rubber, which in its' prime more resembled fork-lift tire durometer. These days they're so hard that they've become downright creepy to ride on....and replacements are needed.

I've looked at the M/T SR radials, seen some posts that ran hot & cold on them. I don't think I've seen much on the Hoosiers, so would like to get some first-hand opinions on them. I suppose Avon's are the default tire, but most of my use is street time and the prospect of picking up every stone bigger than a pea and flinging it against the body does not sit well with me.

So. Your help would be much appreciated.

I have the M/T street radials and love them. I took off the stock Yoko's which were hard as a rock and not good for traction and corner control. The new M/T's stick like glue and 100% improvement. The car definitely handles differently.

Since the car weighs only 2500# you need a softer tire, not a tire designed for a car weighing 3500-4000#.

I just put on a set of the S/R Mickey Thompsons and took off a set of BFG T/A. All the difference in the world. They hook up good and don't follow every crack and ridge in the road.

I have M/T Sportsman S/R on a 1968 Camaro RS/SS big block and love them. They don't wander or slip. Now the Camaro is heavier than my Cobra so not sure if that makes a difference. I have Goodyear Eagle GS-C on the Cobra and they are nice too.

Looking to make the same change from the BFG's to MT S/Rs. Can't live with those BFG's and longer and have seen only a few but very positive comments on the S/R. Looks like I'll be moving in that direction.

I just put a set of S/R's on yesterday (changing from 5.5-yr-old BFG T/A's) and can feel a difference. I'll be putting more miles on today. They seem to hook up better in 1st and 2nd than the T/A's; haven't found any corners yet to check lateral grip.

It would seem the M/T's are the tire of choice. Still would like to hear how Hoosier proponents feel about their choice - I am aware that Hoosier road race tires are very much in use for track cars and since they do have an overall good rep, would like to know how the Pro Streets mark up with hiway use.

But much thanks to all who have offered their experiences with the M/T's. It appears that's the diection I will go also. Good to know there's an alternative out there to these skates BFG calls a performance tire .

Got some freeway miles and a few curves yesterday on the MT S/R's. The car rides better and goes straighter, no unusual vibrations, and grips better in all axis (axes? axis's?). So far this has been a noticeable improvement over the worn T/A's.
