Default Klotz Estorin Synthetic oil anyone using it?

My engine builder is adament that i use oil like Brad Penn, something with extra Zink and Phosforus in it. I have heard of the additive you can add but i know that isnt nearly as good as factory made. I just became a dealer for Klotz and i need to change my oil in my car and this Klotz oil looks even better than the Brad Penn because Klotz is fully synthetic and not semi. What are your thoughts on this?

You can buy any oil you want. Go ahead and pick your favorite brand and then just add the product called ZDDP Plus. It is a zinc and phosphorus additive. http://www.eastwood.com/zddp-plus-oi...e-4-fl-oz.html

Redline - all the viscosities have the extra ZDDP. They also sell the ZDDP additive.

I have a freind that drag races and is adiment that the additive is not even close to being as good and the factory blended stuff. I had called Gibbs oils and asked this question and they had told me the same thing that when the zink and phospherous is added and blended the oil needs to be at a certain temp. to blend correctly.

This makes no sense whatsoever. What temp should the oil be to mix??? -10, 200 degrees??? As an engine goes from being cold to fully warmed up it spans a huge range, so the product will mix.

Gibbs will say whatever it takes to seel their oil.

It makes perfect sense to me. I have my own machine shop and in our cnc machines we run a water saluable coolent where you mix water with special oil additive. When you blend the two you MUST put the oil in a bucket and add the water. If you fill the bucket 1st then add the oil the experts say it will not mix properly. I thought this was a bunch of bull poop because i have done it that way for years. But i was proven wrong and could actually see the difference. I am not a scientist but i just called Klotz and they told me the exact same thing that these additives are not even close the the same as the real thing and they as well mentioned that base oil needs to be at certain temp the the zink and phosferous to blend properly and not seperate. Don't take my word for it call them. The reason i started this post was not to try and save money on oil but to buy the best oil i could for my application. I have over 20 g's and buy paying a few extra dollars on the right oil is a small price to pay. Just my opinion.

I didn't get the opinion that u were trying to save money. I felt that you were trying to find a good compromise of the best oil in conjunction with high ZDDP.

My point was that u can find the very best oil out there (your choice) and then add the ZDDP to give the the best of all worlds. I don't have the specific knowledge to agrue your point about the blending method, but I am highly skeptical as the ZDDP comes already mixed in some oil. Who knows

I think that if you use Klotz, Gibbs or Brad Penn and i'm sure there is a couple more that have enough of the Zink and Phosferous There is no need for any addititve at all. But i suppose it wouldnt hurt to add it. I just talked to my engine builder and he said he would only warantee the motor if i used oil with this already in it. Not using an additive. I don't know if he is trying to just have a warantee loophole which i don't thik so. But maybe he has found a difference i don't know.

I guess my question is, aside from their ZDDP additive, how good is their actual oil?????? Is it as good as Mobil 1 or Royal Purple ? It seems a shame to compromise on "unknown oil" just to get ZDDP.

I think this oil is ALOT better IMO. There is a reason for the price. I know that Klots has been around for a long time in the 2 stroke market and after talking with them this Estorlin was devoloped with the help of Nascar just like the Gibbs stuff. I asked why you dont see Klots stickers on the car and they told me that depending on the race some are running the Klots but cannot advertize it because of the big dollars that Mobile 1 and the others are sponsering. They said that they do advertize with the ARCA cars though.

I know I'm really being anal about this, but it's "zinc", "phosphorous" and "Mobil1".
