One thing left out is the condition of the track. My brother-n-law has been around drag racing all his life and works at track. From what he tells me, they put different coatings down on the track for different type events. Some are much more tacky than others. They never change the coatings for local minor events, just the big events. So the track is the luck of the draw for us. It depends on what the last major event was and how long ago it happened.

Altitude of the track can make a big difference as well.

I am running 3.31 rear with my wide ratio toploader. Can still scratch it through 3rd, but I suspect 1/4 mile times would suffer. Haven't tried it, though. Top speed? Don't know, but from 80mph up, it just wants to go go go!

With my old race motor I would shift into 4th gear (top loader) at about 115 mph and it was pulling like I had shifted into 2nd. The first time I did that my instant thought was, "Where in the heck does this motor STOP pulling hard?" I never had the balls to find out...

Yep, that's my car. People ask me how fast it will go and I tell them I have no idea. There isn't enough open freeway around here to ever find out, let alone the legal implications that could occur.....

Around 400 wheel HP and drag radials on a Cobra on a normal road in which you could pull a modest 1.8 60ft time you'll be in the low 3s to 60 mph and run a low 11 1/4 mile around 123 to 125 mph. The BMW wouldn't even be close to a Cobar with 350 at the wheels. 300 at the wheels and we might have a race.

Yes, the 60 ft time is a relation to speed because it indicates usable power.

If one would have a 2.73 rear gear most would hit 60 mph in first gear and save a good .25 to .3 not having to shift. A little slower start, no shift, same diffrence to 60 mph if not even faster with the 2.73.

Here ya go. I've tested all of these cars in the same place as well as many others. I like to pull out this graph for threads like this. All of these cars are faster than the BMWs unless they came out with some new 650 or 700 HP model I'm not aware of. The Cobra in the graph is 475HP at the tires. The other cars are stock.
