Mobile 1 ATF in a TKO 600?
Mobile 1 ATF in a TKO 600? Any opinions or experience?
I have a really good reason to ask, but I don't want to start a oil war here.
Thanks,

Why not just use syncromesh oil?

What ATF is it? Dexron?
Tremec recommends a GM synchromesh oil or a Dexron 3 ATF.

It's "Mobil1". I've been using Redline MTL in my Tremec for 10 years now with no problems. GM Synchromesh is the recommended fluid.

FYI, the Tremec installation guide recommends GM Synchromesh, which is available at the dealers for around $15/qt. (You'll need 3 qts.). It is manufactured under contract by Pennzoil, who markets it under their own brand as Pennzoil Synchromesh @ $7.30/qt. at Autozone.
It is also made by Texaco for GM but probably only available at their stations as I couldn't find it retailed anywhere.

I spoke with Tremec about 6 months ago. I asked about the suitability of Mobil 1 ATF for their 600 transmissions - was told it had been tested and approved for use.

JimiG - who sells and services Tremec's for a living - highly recommends Amsoil Synthetic syncromesh Transmission Fluid - it cross references as a substitute for GM syncromesh Part# 12345349. That's what's going in my T600 - just getting ready to change fluids after 5500 miles.

Try Royal Purple Syncromax. Crossover for GM syncromesh. Smoother shifts, 10 to 15 deg. cooler, very positive feel, a truly WOW product. The only thing I use.
