I know I have been out of the Cobra market for a couple of years but what am I missing about 4842 for $120K?

The paperwork states 4948, but who's counting anyway.

I'm not sure which way to take your comment, but I think $119K in this market for a later fiberglass CSX might be a bit too much. However, I do like black a lot. Also, for me, and I'm sure only me, the lack of an aftermarket block is a slight negative. No mention of the heads that I could see.

Yes, I guess I should have clarified ... I meant to say, what are they smoking? haha Unles smy quick math is wrong (often it is), I see a $50K roller, $14K engine, $3K clutch/tranny, $1500 tires, and being objective I will throw in $3K in misc...

Oh well, I shouldn't talk... i have been known to ask a bit of a premium for cars before

My how we have become accustomed to "fakey do wannabe's".

LACK of an after market block is a slight negative? I'd prefer an authentic side oiler block myself. Not a 428, no 429's need apply, "W" blocks are outta here. Gimme the real deal, in a genuine Shelby especially, a rare thing these days.

There all way too high and that's why they continue to be for sale. I've done some checking on the CSX fiberglass rollers and they are closer to $56-$58 with most of the options. Guess you might get a CSX6000 stripo for $ 50K...

A $50K CSX roller is a myth because of the way Shelby prices their "add on options" like glovebox, map pockets, leather interior, quick jacks or bumpers, type of sidepipe etc. I would venture if the CSX owners are honest everyone in teh last 2-3 years paid between $54-63K for their "rollers". I know I did (I didnt know better at the time to do more comparison shopping) If I knew better I could of had an alum Kirkham for less money than I spent on my glass csx

I was being kind. It's a huge negative to me.

As I mentioned earlier, I may be the only one here, but I prefer having a "new and improved" block. Less weight and less potential issues with thin cylinder walls and the other minutia associated with old stuff. But that's just me. I'm different.

...and if you prefer a modern alloy block, they are pretty cool. A Shelby block is very nice, just don't piss on my back and tell me it's raining by calling it a 1965 side oiler.

Just keeping it real.

Glass Shelby or alloy Kirkham, for about the same money? Hmmm, that is a tough call for me. I think it might depend on what Shelby is up to on any given month which way the wind blows.

I'm sure your not alone in that RodKnock, nothing wrong with the idea.

As somebody who has really been looking at CSX prices, and as mentioned in a few other posts, there seem to be many relatively new and unsold 4000/6000 fiberglass series completed car out there between the $115 to $125k range. I have no doubt that cars priced in this range likely reflect the quality of the bits put into them and the care taken with their assembly. Really hope that the folks selling these cars can get their asking price.

However, if others are like me, while I appreciate the pedigree and of course the CSX chassis number, I start questioning the value given what else I could buy for the same price. In my case, a 2002-2004 Ferrari 360 Modena or a 289FIA Kirkham (still struggling with this decision and admittedly, very different rides).

As is the case with many objects of lust (well at least I lust after these things), everything unfortunately seems to have a price point. Given the continuing state of the economy and perhaps the long term impact that the last couple of years have left with some of us, beginning to believe that the price point for even the nicest reproduction (with a stated belief that only CSX 2000 and 3000 stamped chassis are real) is now somwhere south of the $95k mark.

If I am right, these things are going to be on the market a very long time or end up going to auction where they will sell for whatever the market thinks they are worth.

Only my opinion...

Hey, I'm still thinking about that Copper Kirkham. Hubba, hubba.

But priced at $125K or reasonable offer, it's WAY too much for me.

Hey, if a FFR with a small block went for 67k last week in SLC a kirkham is easily worth 120...

you can get a 360 for under 85 full retail . I think we have all seen at least one csx and one kirkham go for 75 . But just like BJ if you want it they will charge you what ever you will pay , plus 10 %

So the $67K FFR sold at auction was noted by the auctioneer as a "Shelby". No wonder it brought twice it's value.

A fully dressed Kirkham with a polished exterior and a 5 speed with a 482 for $75? Or an older kirkham that needs work for $75? The cars that go cheaply are few and faar between. I would figure a newer kirkham buld with all the mbells and whistles is worth at least $90
