Default Anyone remember this Cobra ?

Hey guys just checking in. How many of you remember this one?

Things are going very well. It has been alot of work but worth every bit.
My father and I purchased the car Jan 1 2010. We are learning so much.
Here is a pic of the car as it sits today.

Wed April 7 2010 The Cobra breathed her first breathe since the garage fire that almost took her life.

The car sounds good. What's the story with the fire? Was it in your garage that burned? Or did you purchase it it charred? What got replaced? We all love a good story.

Its a long story.
But here is the coles notes.

Found the car around new years 2010. Because of the holiday we had a hard time doing any due dilligence before the purchase. We bought it blind.
All we new was it was a SBF in a Johnex Cobra. The garage that it was stored in caught fire. The damage was mostly body and interior.
We now have a new body and the mechanical is almost completed.

If you would like to follow more of this build here is a link to the local mustang forum that I have been posting the build on.

Things are coming along nicely. I remember when you first posted about this car, what a controversy that was.

...look like your going to have the last laugh this time around, well done.

Definitely a candidate for the( back from the ashes) "phoenix cobra" award of 2010.

Default Cobra back to life

Nice project you may consider wrapping your headers in engine bay as they can cause melted wires and boiling brake fluid issues. Good Luck with completion Larry Spillman SF Calif

Is this the Cobra that the owner was working on it in the garage, and in his attempt to fire it up for the first time, it erupted under the hood. He tried to push it out of the garage, but it caught the garage on fire, if I recall correctly.

There was a thread on this Cobra here on CC some time back.

Must have been a heartbreak for him, but it looks like a great project for you.

The story we were told when we picked up the car was that the original owner had the car completed and had aprox 1200KM's on the car.He was making Bio diesel in his garage and something went wrong and the garage caught fire.

I may have been wrong. Search here on CC for "garage fire" or something and you might dig up the old thread. The car in your first picture looked familiar. I was thinking it was an FFR Cobra, though...

Well in three days it will have been one year since my Dad and I purchased the burnt Cobra and started to rebuild. It has been a challenge to say the least but I wouldn't have it any other way.

And the latest pics 3 days less than a year.
