Superformance cars had a similar problem early on. It appears to have been the outside leg of the hoop the way it sat on the pin that was connected to the chassis. No bolt was used on that side of the hoop because the pin extended a good distance into the hoop pipe. They had a problem with a squeek on some cars. They then added a pop rivet and that appears to have solved it. When I changed my hoop, I added a few o-rings on the pin and the inside of the hoop rests against the o-rings rather than the pin. I also added a bolt on the leg on that side of the hoop.
