By the way, I'm assuming that the spaces aren't supposed to be there.

767Jockey @ gmail.com

Please clarify.

767Jockey@ gmail.com NOT: 767Jockey @ gmail.com

Please clarify so some guy with spaces doesn't in his email gets a new Cobra.
I left out the spaces on purpose to limit the spam engines from going after this email......guess I should have mentioned that and will correct the original post. Maybe you can edit your post to add a space too?

Default What about the FE forum

DCdoug Doug I need a private pm to mail a check to you.

If you raffle the 482 motor at $20.00 per ticket I want 10.

If you are going to raffle the motor, the FE forum has about 6,000 guys that might want a chance a winning a real nice motor. Something to think about.

New trailer I pick up at 10:00am tomorrow. Just need to know where we are going next???

767 Jockey need a little help for directions and where the car is going to be stored. If you don't mine coming back to NJ I have a spare house you can stay in for a couple of months. 3-6 at this time. You would make a great house sitter and with a car in the garage you have a place to play. Something to think about??? RWH has a great cancer center about 10 minutes from house. Rick L.

RickLake brings up a good point. Does one of you regulars over on the FE forum want to post 767Jockey's original message, a short summary of what we are doing and the link to this thread? I only lurk over there and no one would likely know me to trust me.

Rick - I will PM you.

Doug,

I contacted Jamo about a separate link for this effort. Once we discuss and plan details tomorrow morning, I can lay out a specific thread hopefully with a sticky format so that it will not be lost. Once we discuss and lay out specific details, we can have a more structured and perminant approach. Jamo is awaiting a final format.

Doug, your situation is really sad and I feel for you.

On the other hand, all the people that have stepped up to the plate to not let your dream die is really inspiring.

I'm sending a check today to help out in the efforts. I can't afford much but every little bit helps.

Default If You've Never Used PayPal...

It is very easy to do. Just go to www.paypal.com and set up your account with a credit card. Then click on "Send Money" and fill in the boxes. You'll then get this telling you that you did it right. Go there now and send something before you forget, or get sidetracked with something else.

Well, out of courtesy to those on this board who really can't afford to send anything, I think you should NOT post a list of contributors. PMs or emails from you to contributors is the way to go - but no public list.

Don't worry. We aren't posting any names. If you can't make a donation or contribute to the build effort, please include Doug in your prayers.

Well, I just found this thread today, but I am so full of pride about this Cobra Brotherhood!!!!

I am making a PayPal contribution today. And, I would like to encourage someone in the Houston group to find out how to find Doug (he is probably at MD Anderson), get him in a Cobra and drive for as long as he can stand it. I know there are some great guys in Houston that will do this.

Elmariachi....why don't you make this happen. I would be happy to do it but I am 6 hours away.

The outpouring of support is touching...enough to make a grown man cry.

I am already on it. I have been emailing Doug this week and not only are we going to drag his ass out in my Hurricane, he has to come over my way for some Texas music and cold beer. We had been threatening this since he moved here last year but I have been busy commuting to Austin for work. And if he's around we'll get him to come with us for the Operation Comfort charity fundraiser in September.

Thanks

dcdoug, et. al.,
As you know I am just one of the guys that have offered to help finish building 767Jockey's Cobra. He has told me what needs to be done, a lot of finishing, but not that technical.

I don't have the faintest idea who, if anyone he has decided on to finish His Cobra if at all yet. If I still had my trailer I'd zip over east and get it for him, but I can't. So...., if he decides to send it West and someone can get it to say...PA. Ohio border I could meet them and bring it the rest of the way then reverse the trip when it is finished.

Depending on what he decides to do?

This is a truely heartwarming response to a fellow enthusiast's unhappy predicament and I congratulate all of you.
For my part, I have already been in touch with Doug with a personal invitation, which I’m delighted to say he has accepted.

As you were.

All,
I just wanted you all to know that I check in here multiple times daily, and I am just overwhelmed at what is said, written and offered. I mean that in the truest sense of the word, I am simply overwhelmed. Never in my life have I ever had such an overwhelming act of kindness and generosity directed toward me. I feel like the family on that home replacement show, when the guy with the megaphone stands on their front porch a 5:00 AM and screams "Gooooooood Morning, Smith family!" Never in my wildest dreams did I ever even think, not even for a split second, that this might happen. It was a complete and total shock. I can assure you, it still is!

I have laid awake at night thinking about all this, about the incredible people we have assembled here. It's funny that as I go through the names, I have in my mind a sort of sense of each of you, based on what you've written in the past. There isn't one guy on this site that I wouldn't leap at the opportunity to have a beer with if the opportunity, if it presented itself..

I remember a few years back, before my difficulties started, I was flying to Phoenix, and I had about a 24 hour layover in Scottsdale. I had read so much about John's (Double Ugly) carbon fiber car, and I really wanted to see it. However, I'm not the type to try to insert myself into someone's life, and have someone feel obligated to make time for me. So, I though what the heck, I PM'd John, told him I'd be in the area, and that if he was willing to get together, I'd love to buy him lunch and see his car. I also explained that if he was busy of course I understood. I got a response back that he was actually pleased to meet me and looked forward to it. John picked me up in his daily driver at my hotel and drove me to his beautiful house, opened the garage door, and there it was. What a spectacular car. I was even more surprised when he wheeled it out and took me for a ride. At the time it was my first ride in a Cobra. We drove for about 10 minutes or so, and we pulled in front of his house. At that point he shut the car down and got out, and of course I followed. He walked back to the drivers door, opened it with a smile, and said "get in and drive, keep it slow, go have fun; I want to get some pictures of it, just go around the corner and enjoy it." I actually got to drive his car, and I had pictures to prove it! The incredible kindness, hospitality and generosity that John showed me that day will never, ever be forgotten. Thank you again, John. More so, I realize that this is the spirit that permeates this entire site; A family of relative strangers, knowing each other well while never having met.
To have some of you want to put in time, some send money, Ed willing to screw the entire car together at his place......I am speechless. There is so much inside of me that I would like to say to each and every one of you. However, as you can plainly tell, I am not the best writer you have ever seen, and I hold little hope that I can ever adequately express to each and every one of you the gratitude and awe that I feel inside to all of you.

I have written this in many PM's that I have received, but it bears repeating again and again. I have no words to express my gratitude other than Thank You. So I will say it again, and again, and again......Thank you. You guys are just incredible. Thank you.

Doug
