The mind set when I started my kit was all about performance, road racing, and drag racing. So a lot of the bling is not there, carpeting on the floors, side exhaust, too much chrome.Too sqeaky clean has no patina in my eyes.

Mine is a number 2 with a few things always challenging.

Dirt roads...the number one biggest problem for me.

I always feel weird taking mine to a car show. Inevitably, there are 2-3 other Cobras there that look like the only time they have ever been driven was to that show and back home. I drove mine everywhere. Grocery store, park, parent's house, friend's house, you name it, I drive it.

No point in having a car sit in the garage.

Mine is a #1 right now but it has only been completed and on the road for about 4 months although I like clean cars so it will probably stay between a 1 and 2.

I usually like to hit the high spots with instant detailer before I take off. Where I live, you won't go more than a few miles without bug splatters anyway.

Default Driven HARD, put away WET and DRY

elmariachi Jim It's like the horse, she does get and extra quart of grain after race day. The stone chips are touched up. Loader up in the shoot and gets go again. #4 is the winner. I do WD-40 the aluminum and smoke out the garage to kill the mosquitos. Rick L.

Mine is a bit of #2 and a bit of #4, too.....when I do drive it (that depends on when I want to insure it), it is a bit of a daily driver....if it doesn't look like rain, it's the one I drive almost every time. Road mileage at 25 mpg is almost as good as my V-6 Honda Accord, in-town mileage is a different story altogether!

Right now, the problems relate to the interior. When I bought it the carpeting was very poorly installed, I haven't decided whether to try to replace it or just take it to a trim shop and have them put it together and install it more professionally. My glove box door is also missing....both projects are on the list for this winter.

Cheers from Dugly

I wipe mine down or wash it on the return from any major drive (other than local warmups) to get the bugs off.

I enjoy cleaning and waxing mine and its only 3 years old, so Im a #1. But I drive it as much as possible with my crazy schedule. I have another rule that I do not leave the car out of my sight. So many people just have no clue about car ettiquette. I have parked 5 spots away from the next closest car and had a guy park within 2 feet of me. I realized that some people just dont get it.

There is a reason why only one of my cars doesnt have any door dings.

I think some of these 2-4's are waxers in disguise. Every time I go to a cobra meet there's sparkling detailed cars everywhere that look like they've never been driven (and some haven't). Mine has been driven in every imaginable type of weather and all types of roads. Still cleans up well but I hate washin and waxin. I just like to drive. Leaf blowers work real nice for cleaning the interior.

2 and 4 is what I do. A little cleaning and a lot of driving.

I took my car to a car show one time. Parked, got out, did lap around the show, said Hi to some folks and headed back to my car to take off.
Got back to the car and a bunch of guys were checking out my car. They were saying stuff like cool car, what kit is it etc, but most were also commenting about how my car was dirty for a car show, road dirt, some bugs and a little bit of entrails from a furry beast etc..
So I walk up to my car and kind of just stood there listening. When the next guy commented on the dirt etc, I mentioned that I thought Cobras looked better with a little dirt on them, they said "yah your right they do look better with some dirt on and stuff"(they didn't know it was my car.)
I said thanks!, and jumped in and drove away LOL
Fun stuff
JB

2 & 4 for me, definately "Drive It Like I Stole It". Still shines up nice, no where near as old as some of the posts above. 14,000 miles in 2 1/2 yrs, 1,000 of them on the track.

El> when you gettin your beast out on the track? Got to get some test runs in before BBORR. MRLL lives.

You'd be shocked if you walked into my garage tonight. Side oiler is on the engine stand getting 2x4'd, flanged sidepipes and headers are hanging from overhead door rails in garage bay #3 with a fresh coat of flat black ceramic paint. Tidying up engine bay from the slip fit exhaust leaks, re-routing a line or two, etc.

Should be back on the road in time for our little September charity event.

Big Bend here we come.

I clean the bugs off the front and windshield and wash the brake dust off the wheels about every 2 weeks. It is driven hard and put away wet, so it's not perfect all the time.

Just got finished cleaning mine up from driving from L.A. to Monterey Historic Races and back. All told about 1k miles. Various bugs, diesel fuel exhaust fumes, road grime, ect.,,,,,,the usual. Keeping the car clean and presentable is the way I relax, and having been off work for over a year, due to health problems, gives me the time I need to keep it up. So mine is always #1 condition. But I don't consider it a trailer queen.
