Default Aluminium hood scoop ?

Anybody installed an aluminium hood scoop to replace the molded plastic one. I have the intention of painting my car merlot FX,no stripes and was wondering if an aluminium hood scoop with pop rivets around would look good.
Where could I get one, there must be somebody making those, thanks

Michel

Kirkham sells them and I have seen them come up on Ebay once in awhile.

I think rivets look great! On the Unique Motorcars... the hood scoop is fiberglass. I think fiberglass would be better than aluminium.... much stronger. Unique would sell you one. www.uniquemotorcars.com

I saw an advertisement page on Kirkham and they provide fiberglass hood scoop if you buy the kit,I thought the whole car was aluminum.

Michel we have been Aluminum plating the back side of fiberglass cobra hood for many years and yes its real aluminum so it will need to be polished every now and then. If you’re trying to keep your cobra period correct I do believe that the scoop was black painted fiberglass. If you want the scoop aluminum you could just have us Aluminum plated the back side of your scoop, doing this ensures the fit to your hood since it’s the one you will be removing. Just a thought.

Just curious about the scoop here.....bare aluminum, or painted Merlot to match the rest of the Cobra?

Cheers from Dugly
