Crazy Guy Pulling Hole-shots
Does anybody know who this guy is , he's from Long Island and used to race and build Chevys. But in this shot he's pulling holeshots with his Cobra on the sidewalk in the front of his shop? He must of lost his drivers license for dragracing or somthing. It says DragginSnake on the car but I don't think it was an original DragginSnake but a Cobra that did some draging.

Just like it says on the side of the car, that's the Motion Performance Cobra, from Baldwin, Long Island (NY). The driver is likely Joel Rosen, who ran the company. He recently got back into the business of building specialized performance cars, although I believe he operates out of Florida these days.
Now, for extra credit, who knows the chassis number of the Cobra?

Well, that's why it's an extra-credit question. Because in truth, no one knows for certain. Joel says he wrecked his 289, and 2374 did have substantial body damage, but there was no indication of any of the gold paint he raced it with, not the dark green he believed it got painted later, when it was restored in the mid 70's.
What we need is someone who, for whatever reason, knows for sure.

Is that photo legit? Seems to me that the slicks are wrinkled in such a way that shows the car is sitting still. Have a look at the wrinkle in the sidewall at the 5 o'clock position. If the rim is turning hard enough inside the tire to carry the front wheels, that wrinkle would be facing the same direction as the one at the 7 o'clock position, like this:
Also, were the chassis braced that much more than road cars that it would lift the front so perfectly straight? Any photo that I've seen has the left front launching a few inches higher than the right front due to engine torque and chassis twist.
Is it cynical for me to wonder if it's a staged photo with the car jacked up (with the jack cleverly hidden by the driver's front wheel/tire?

It's like water down a drain, CCW here and CW where you are. Same holds true for wrinkle walls.... I would also think it's a staged pic, I've got enough pics of me leaving off the line, and my head is back against the roll bar, not like his.

There is something very fishy about that picture. Not only is his head not back against the rest, he also looks relaxed and just sitting there. But the biggest thing is that the wrinkle wall slicks are not distorted in a forward motion. They are only slightly distorted equally on both sides as if the car is just sitting there at rest.

Good observation on the slicks. But I think he looks like his eyes are glued on the dash mounted tach and ready to bang second.

There is absolutely no rubber or any evidence of skidding immediatley behind the rear tires.

You guys are good, It does look like a staged shot , That Joel is a hot $hit, I have another shot of him going down the track and this one looks real. Now I am wondering if those Phase 3 Camaros realy did run 11.50 out of the box

Don't forget that Joel probably had a 150 pound bus battery in the trunk and it really could lift the wheels with 4.88's or 5.14's in the rear.
If the first shot was doctored, Marty Schorr probably did it.
