Cleaning Connecting Rods

I just received my new SCAT I-beam connecting rods. They came nicely packaged with a rust inhibitor on them. What is a good cleaning solvent? Simple Green? I need to send them out with the other components to be balanced.

Take some lacquer thinner on a cotton cloth.....it will get the cosmoline off. When you get that off, wash them in hot soapy water, then blow them off and spray WD on them to keep them from rusting.
