in days of 'ore i used to be a service writer at a SAAB (SLOB) dealership
no one liked the franchise that worked there. i won't even begin to say what we thought about anyone that bought one.
but the funniest thing i ever saw was the poor bastard that pulled into the breezeway with his two day old SAAB....we thought he tinted the windows,
couldn't see into the car. when he opened the door and the smoke billowed out, we figured he had a service problem, lol, and by the burned out seat of his pants we knew where to look. .....he traded the car in that day on a Benz.
I think i would drive the weed wacker before the SAAB......

GOOD GRIEF ! 6 pages ....too much about nothin.
Very interesting though.....SS lock washers, lock tight, locking nuts and a big old wrench...god you will never get that bugger out in your lifetime.
Im going to the garage now and start checking every nut and bolt on my car.

As ERAChas pointed out, even a seemingly innocuous thread like this one can end up having "something for everyone." Lesser experienced wrenchers learn a lesson on fasteners, while those with decades under their belt get the opportunity to reminisce over a long forgotten wrench, comment on a bizarre new-fangled torquing technique, or shudder over a poorly designed import car from their past. There was even room for outliers like RodKnock to get on the taffeta train. Yep, I think everyone should now add a post telling me how thankful they are that I start threads like this.

Note to self: Avoid patrickt threads (despite the comedic appeal from all of the classic retorts). Too much reading and a complete waste of precious time. Piercing one's eyeballs with sharp objects will yield superior results.
Was that thankful enough?

That's what I was thinking. I check out for a few days to spend time with family and I come back to find a 6 page thread on frickin' lock washers? Really?

Ya , after I get through checking all the nuts and bolts, I'm taken a couple of pain killers and havin a stiff drink...and then into la la land.
I think someone needs to start a thread on the intricacies of air vs. nitrogen in tires. I think nitrogen is inert...just like my brain after my pain pills.
